Title: Questions on the HP Rifle Mid Range competition on Sunday July 12
Post by: mott555 on June 29, 2015, 10:24:33 AM
The ENGC schedule has a High Power Mid-Range Rifle competition scheduled for July 12th. I'd like to participate since I've never done a rifle match before. What do I need to know?

Is http://engc.us/disciplines/mid-range-rifle/ (http://engc.us/disciplines/mid-range-rifle/) what this is?

What are typical distances, target sizes, and number of total shots/ammo? I have 3 rifles but the only one with an optic only has a 3-round magazine (7mm Rem Mag) and the page above mentions holding at least 5 in the magazine, leaving me with a standard AR-15 and a Savage 99 in .300 Savage with iron sights as my other options. If it's the full 600 yards I'm a bit wary about using iron sights unless the targets are gigantic.

I'd appreciate any additional info or tips.

Thanks.

I don't normally shoot these matches, but try this link. Lots of info there.
