I know there are older posts dealing with private party sales, but I'd like some clarification if any one can.
I'm buying a rifle from another private party in Nebraska in a few weeks. Do we need to do an ffl transfer for this? My previous understanding was no, but then I read about some executive orders that Barry did before he left office. Those appear to muddy the water a bit. So do we need to do a transfer, is it a good CYA move to do the transfer, or can we just do it with a basic bill of sale? Thanks in advance

Exchange funds for long gun. No ffl needed. Ask for purchase permit if you'd like, but it's not required.

FarmerRick is right: no FFL needed on long guns in NE. I think I know the executive order you're talking about, and it affected people who were in the business of selling firearms, not casual sales.
