Title: Table at Lincoln Gun Show
Post by: bkoenig on January 09, 2013, 12:21:23 PM
The Lincoln Izaak Walton League and the NFOA will have a table at the gun show on the 26th and 27th.  Wildgoose and I will be there recruiting members for both organizations, but any help would be appreciated.  If anyone wants to work (especially people who are members of both organizations) let me know and I will put your name on the list so you can get an exhibitor pass. I'm going to send in the order for the table in the next day or so.

This is a great opportunity to reach out to all of those people who just bought their first gun in the last few weeks.  We need all the help we can get in the fight that's coming.

By next door do you mean next to me at the table, or over at the horse barn?  ;D

I forgot about that.

So far I have GSD and Dan.  More are welcome if anyone wants to help - I'll send in the order form for the table on Friday.  I'm not sure how many passes we're allowed but I would guess a few more would be ok.

I just don't understand why anyone would rather go hang out with a bunch of women than Ray and I.  We're a couple of pretty good looking dudes, IMHO.

Is that a challenge?

Perhaps I'll need to bring an old Marlin Model 80 along to distract the competition...

so whats the plan here? what time do we need to show up, etc? do we just give our names at the door?

Also, mind if I bring a rifle to sell? (provided it doesn't sell before then)

I'm still waiting on the packet from the show organizer.  If I don't get it tomorrow I'll follow up with them.  I think (not sure) they'll give us door passes, but  I gave them the name of everyone who volunteered.  I'm sure bringing a rifle is fine.

If you guys want to just post here what times you're available to work we'll sort it out.  Wildgoose and I are free pretty much all weekend to cover whenever other people can't.

i plan on being there first thing Saturday morning (830am-ish).  i have a few things to sell and to meet up with the buyers.  otherwise i think i can be at the show most of Saturday.... depends on when the wife wants me back home.

Ok guys, I got the info back from the show organizer.  I'm going to set up the table & pick up the packet Friday night, so I'll have your door passes then.  If you want to just call me when you get to the show on Saturday I can run out to the door and give yours to you.  They require that exhibitors wear the passes at all times.

I have brochures for both the Ikes and NFOA, a poster for the Ikes, and an NFOA banner.  I also have raffle tickets for the NFOA lower receiver giveaway, so I'll bring a cashbox.  I'm not too worried about the other stuff, but we'll need to make sure the raffle tickets and cash go with someone if the table is left unattended.

Actually, BK, I had thought about getting a pic of you, me, Robert H and the other Novembeard-ers, and post it on my table as an incentive, nay, PLEA for the ladies to join. ' We want YOU to join the NFOA.... Because Saturday morning breakfast is... Well it just ain't purty!"

For people to just leave totally Anonymous donations to help us fight for everyone's guns rights ?

It is a long way LOL about 4 hours.  My boys would go nuts looking at all the guns.  This Christmas we went to Casper to see my oldest boy who moved up there and we went to a couple of gun shops and they loved seeing the different guns.  We even saw an English made one that was an Elephant gun that was worth $250,000 it was in really great condition and I wish now I would have gotten a picture of it.  The guy did let me hold it but told me if I dropped it I'd have to buy it. :D

Ok I found the pawn shop on the web and he does have a picture of it just kind of hard to see but I will post it.  I don't know if the guy will ever sell it because of the big price tag.  The gun had really pretty metal tooling on it and the bore looked excellent for as old as it was.  He said it was made in England and the year was in the 1800's.  Maybe one of you guys will know what kind of gun this is even though it's not the best picture of it.

I was there from about noon to 3pm.  I didn't see the NFOA table.  Where are/were you guys?

It looked like the gun show had large turn out.  How much traffic did the table get.

Farmer Rick, how many Marlins and CZ's did you end up with :)

We sold about 60 raffle tickets, had probably $60-75 in other donations, and gave out a whole bunch of brochures.  There were a lot of people who had never heard of us before and the response was very positive.  Hopefully tomorrow is just as successful.

How heavy was the foot traffic for the show in general ?  Do they (you) expect same numbers tomorrow ?

I thought it was much busier than normal for this particular show.  Up until mid afternoon it was busy enough that it was sometimes hard to get up to the tables to look at anything.  I'm guessing things will be a little slower tomorrow.

We ended the show with 81 raffle tickets sold and $85 in donations.

I want to thank members Wildgoose,  GSD, and Bkoenig for the long hours they put in to support the NFOA and the Lincoln Izaak Walton league.

If Lincoln area members want to buy tickets FTF  they can contact GSD or DanW , and they are still for sale online

Even more important than the raffle tickets, we passed out a ton of brochures and talked to hundreds of people abiut the NFOA.  I'm hoping we get quite a few new members out of this.

I was there all weekend, but never was able to make it around. We were BUSY.... I sold the most holsters ever at a show, and that was just on Sat. Sun was just as good.

Anyway, glad you guys were there, and hopefully we get some new members out of it!

BTW, my wife did the tv interview on channel 8 Sat.... How did she do?
