UPDATE: I am going to bump the scheduled deadline up several days to December 13.
Greetings all,
I'm in the market for primers and I found a great deal at Grafs.com. However, the hazmat fee makes a small(ish) purchase too costly, so I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in primers from Grafs.
If you want to know what they have in stock, check them out at www.grafs.com (http://www.grafs.com).
A few points of interest for those interested.
- PayPal account required: I will be asking for your portion of the funds via PayPal (no fee) transfer
- 50 pounds of product can be shipped for one hazmat fee of $28.50
- The hazmat fee ($28.50) will be divided between the buyers. What I have done before is divide the fee by the number of boxes (1,000 primers) purchased. For example: If there were 20 boxes purchased, then the fee per box (1,000 primers) would be $1.43.
- We could add powder to the shipping order. I would likely divide the hazmat fee by pounds of powder and boxes of primers. For example, if the order was for 15 boxes of primers and 5 pounds of powder, then the fee per box of primers or pound of powder would be $1.43
I am planning on doing this soon, so if all commitments could be submitted by December 13, I will get the ball rolling.

you cant ship primers and powder in the same box, at least powder valley wont do it.

They didn't have squat for powder IMHO so that shouldn't be a problem

Hmmm...didn't think about that. That is probably the same for Grafs.

Yes...very true. Likely won't be anyone that can find a powder in stock that they want anyhow. So probably a moot point.

Just FYI, Widener's has S&B primers for a lot cheaper.

Not after Widener's adds on the ~$14.00 S&H charge. Grafs has no S&H for orders over $175.
Also, I should add that I was looking at Graf's 5K pack of S&B primers which was $109.99.

From Powder Valley's website...
WE CAN COMBINE UP TO 48 LBS. OF POWDER AND PRIMERS UNDER ONE HAZMAT TO SAVE YOU MONEY. IF SENDING FUNDS IN ADVANCE, PLEASE CALL FOR ASSISTANCE IN CALCULATING YOUR AMOUNT
http://www.powdervalleyinc.com (http://www.powdervalleyinc.com)
So I guess they can ship it all together.

Intuitively, I am thinking it would be a bad idea to ship one product that is made to combust when struck, with another product that is made to burn rapidly when combustion occurs in its vicinity. I guess the fact that it is "HazMat" and labeled appropriately is all that is required.

Please let me know by then if you are interested. So far, independent of the forum, I have commitments for 29 boxes of primers. That is bringing the HazMat cost down to just under $1.00 per box of primers.

Just because it ships together, doesn't mean its in the same box

So there would be one HazMat charge for two separate boxes?
ETA: From the FAQ's on Grafs website...
Hazardous Materials cannot be shipped via US Mail. Powder, primers & liquid cleaning chemicals over 1 quart, will be charged a $28.50 hazardous material fee per package. (emphasis added)
