I found a Dillon XL650 without dies; however, it is in the wrong caliber. Actually I found two, but they are both for rifle cartridges. How much would I spend to convert it to 9mm? Ball park is good enough.
Thanks,
Fly

Story of my life on and off the range.
Maybe SFG would have an answer to this...when he is done trolling the forum for videos of naked models shooting guns. ;D

I suppose after my last trick with the "Video of naked models shooting guns", no one will read my posts anymore.
If I bought one of these presses, I know I would need a shellplate for $27 or so. What else?

Go to the Dillon precision web http://www.dillonprecision.com (http://www.dillonprecision.com) site and look for the caliber conversion kits http://www.dillonprecision.com/content/p/9/pid/23804/catid/2/XL_650_Caliber_Conversion_Kit (http://www.dillonprecision.com/content/p/9/pid/23804/catid/2/XL_650_Caliber_Conversion_Kit) ~$78 plus your dies.
I am guessing that you have everything else that is required.
If not, a quick change kit will give you the tool head and powder measure.

My Relentless Forum Pursuit of Naked Models with Strayer-Voight Infinitis, Kimber Commanders, STI Eagles and other such Fine Defensive Devices is simply to purge this venue of Temptation for Young Men [Under 50], who would otherwise Lust for these Unreachables and then go into debt to purchase them in this Overblown, Pricey Market.
'Tis Noble Work, .....wot I'm doing. Lonely, but Noble.
Now if the Fly would just set up the Opportunity, like he said.................

PS: Actually I found two
Maybe you should tell us all where to find that Other One.................

Just About Anybody.........
Can fill up old plastic ice cream buckets with 9mm reloads simply by monotonously, repetitively, repeatedly yanking the operating handle on a Dillon 650 Progressive.
Even a Trained Ape could do it. [Underlying Thesis: If I can do it, then it surely follows that a Trained Ape.........]
But...to sit down at an RCBS Big Green Supreme Single Stage Machine and proceed to meticulously craft micron-level uniform, jewel-like Little Brass-and-Copper Beauties..........Ah!! Now we are Speaking of the Higher Arts.
[And I am NOT jealous of your Dillon 650. Not one little bit. Not even a micron's worth.............]

SFG,
I hope to take one of your reloading classes. I was out of town for your pistol courses. I want to make sure I understand the minutia of reloading so I don't make a major mistake. I want safe, reliable ammunition as my final product. HOWEVER, I am not doing it as a hobby in and of itself. I am doing it to cut round cost in half, but I want the process to be minimally time consuming.
Being CDO myself, I could see a large part of my time getting consumed by my obsessive ways and defeating my end goal...shoot more for less.

My source DOES have a Dillon 1050 for 9mm in stock, but that is a little more than I planned to spend.

Maybe another reloading class of some kind around early April. [Spring Break.......Ahhhhh........is intervening shortly.]
We'll post it here, of course.
Lookin' forward to working w/you and Other Forum Guys.

I have to agree on the RCBS Rock Crusher. It is definitely slower, definitely more labor intensive, and definitely much more rewarding.
I cranked out my first round, and immediately ran upstairs and shoved it in the wifes face like the scene from Cast Away. She was not nearly as pleased as I was.

I am sure I will feel the same satisfaction once I get my system up and running. No doubt the thrill of producing a safe round of good quality will be thrilling to me too. However, the REAL satisfaction will be a year after I have started producing ammo and there are 6,000-10,000 rounds downrange at half the price I would have paid buying commercial ammo.

Unfortunately, no. I WAS wearing One Shot though....

I found in a quick pinch #9 is the only thing that works...

I'll echo - buy the conversion kit from dillon for ~$80.
Lee progressives can be converted as well... although kinda moot given they're inexpensive anyway... well, moot as far as changing primer sizes etc. The die plate just comes right off afaik.... so small <> small is just a die conversion along with autodisk changes.... nothing terribly interesting.
As far as SFG's suggestion at a class in April, I'm game :)
