I built a 2.5' x 2' table so my sonic cleaner would have a place to sit next to the utility sink. Because the top of the table is only plywood, I was looking for a dense rubber mat (1/4"-1/2") that could cover the table top. A few criteria for the mat...
1) Must be firm and not a springy rubber. Not looking for cushioning, just durability, liquid proof, and a solid platform to support my sonic cleaner and various other items.
2) Must be a solid piece so spills will not get to the plywood table top.
3) Black preferred but would consider other colors.
4) I don't want to spend $60 for a 3' x 6' piece that I am only going to use a small portion of.
5) Prefer close to Lincoln.
Anyone have an idea where I could get such a thing? I was hoping someone might have a scrap piece and/or know where I could find something that meets my specifications without breaking the bank.
Thanks,
Fly

Why don't you just spray the top with some bedliner

Honestly? Wal-Mart. Look in the automotive section for a set of the floormats for the backseats. usually you can get a set for around $10.

That is a definite possibility.
Thanks!

Not sure if that will be the thickness I am looking for, but I will check it out.
Thanks!

Hmmmm...looked at some online and they are 1/4"-1/2" thick and the right dimensions. I definitely will consider this too.
Thanks!

Might as well be patriotic in the process...

I like it, but...
- I would feel bad when I spilled crap all over it.
- It is a little pricey compared to the basic mud flaps.
- Sadly, it is probably made in China. :(
That gives me an idea though. I was wondering what kind of banners I could hang on the wall of my man cave. What would be more appropriate than the American flag (made in America of course)?

This was my first thought and I just happen to have one that might work.
I will try to measure it and post a picture tomorrow.
I`m not sure if it will work because of the writing on it(not totally flat).

Hmmm...are you in (or close to) Lincoln? Can it be flipped over to a flat/unmarked side?
Let me know.
Thanks,

Nebraska City (about 45minute drive East)
I went and fetched it from out back (I just recently tossed it outside of my workshop), and it measures 24" X 30" and ~5/16" thick.
I would post a picture but the wife took SD card to wallymart to develop vacation pictures.
I believe it might work good for you and you are welcome to have it.
I think we (or wife at least) is headed to walmart hwy 2 to pick up daughters eyeglasses tomorrow if we can work it out to meet there.
There is some slight rust stain on one end on the back (flat) side but belive it could be wire brushed off maybe.

TSC Horse stall mat. $30 or so, depending on if it is on sale or not. 4' x 6' and really thick. Cut to fit.
-
Go to your nearest Walmart and look at rubber door mats, the type for your house. You're bound to find something affordable.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. Hank hooked me up with a mud flap and it is the exact dimensions I need.
Thanks again Hank.
