Title: How Many Glocks Is Too Many Glocks?
Post by: Gary on May 24, 2014, 05:09:47 PM
Some folks, say ONE is too many.  lol

Years and years ago, in the late 80's, early 90's, one was the magic number.  I kept one, for over 20 years.  I started out with a Glock 21, and traded that for a Glock 20.  Still have that gun, from 1991.

Then about a year ago, while I started getting past knee deep into guns again (retired gun dealer) Glocks started adding up, around me.

Yesterday, I made an agreement to purchase number 8, a Glock 27 gen 4, .40S&W.

Did I need another Glock?  No.  Should I have traded or sold a Glock or two, before getting another model?  Maybe.

This baby Glock, is only a few ounces lighter than a Glock 22C.  The footprint is much smaller, but the weight is not much different.

I will use this for CC and training in CC classes.

That's a pretty nice collection.

I'm kinda new to the Glocks, I've bought a G19 & G23 in the last couple years. I think if my counts right I have around 13 handguns. I justify buying one more by gifting one to my son every now and then, who turns 21 in Oct. and is looking forward to getting his CHP.

I have zero glocks... and no tragic boating accident involved.  :D

Buddy of mine just purchased a new Colt 1911, stainless.   Not to step on toes, but what a boat anchor.  Speaking of boating.

Guns are like girlfriends, thank goodness, we have choices.

Here is a side by side photo of a Beretta PX4Storm  and my new Glock 27.  Do you know the primary difference between these two guns, in my opinion?  Dependability.   The Glock could (and has) been tied to a rope, and dragged on a gravel road for miles.   Tossed off three story buildings onto concrete, frozen in sandy blocks of ice water.  Over oiled, under oiled, never oiled, and they still work.

So while both are guns, only one is a SHTF gun, IMHO.

The Glock was not pretty, from day one, and I know from personal experience of day to day CC, it will look the same way in 20 years.   I have a 1991 Glock, still looks like new, and it is not a safe queen.

The Beretta, has a long heritage.  Fine built tool.  However, it is not foolproof, idiot-proof, or longsuffering like a Glock is.

I have one.  A Glock 19, I have had it since 2000. Carried as a deputy and CCW. I had the 17, 22, 26, 34, and a 20, thru the years.  My 19 has never failed, never jammed, just goes bang, I would never get rid of it, but it has become a safe queen.  I prefer to carry and shoot my Beretta PX4's.

I am enticed by Glocks and have been thinking about joining the team.  I've been told that if an internal component breaks, the gun will repair itself.  There are also some reports that Glocks have healing powers for their owners.  There was one story (I will see if I can find it) where a man with severe arthritis in his hip was healed when a Glock was gently waived over the afflicted hip.

I would say one grock is to many, but it would probably take 8 or 9 to make a good boat anchor,

You know, if you sold all of those plasticky things you'd probably have enough to buy one really nice gun from Hamilton Bowen.   :)
