I actually had one of these a couple years ago, sold it to a friend (some friend, huh? ;D) that was wanting a handgun but couldn't afford much else. I had only picked it up because it was cheap anyways.

We ran quite a few rounds threw it without a hiccup. My only complaint was that it was too heavy and too ugly. But for the money, what the heck.

I was very surprised on the weight I really need more mags for it

There is a purpose to every product in a Capitalist society...... if there were no buyers, there would be no product.

UPDATE: Quick update onn this gun I've owned it for several months now and put couple 100 rounds through it.It's never jammed on me yet or missfed a round on me.Accuracy seems to be very acceptable it's better then my sigma's accuracy in my opinion.

If you can put up with the eyesore it is, it is a fine gun.  A buddy of mine owns one in 9 and he outshoots me and my XD every time.  (though it is mostly my crappy shooting, my point is that it is a fine handgun)

I would not go that far....... functional, yes...... fine?  Like a Chevette is a fine automobile.......

Qualifying the next sentence by saying I don't own either the gun or the car; remember, the Corvette was pretty much a piece of crap when they first introduced it!

It's more then just functional everytime I pull the trigger it fires.and the accuracey is very good im very pleased with it.It's much better them my S&W sigma.Only complaint is the single stack mags

It's just that it's...not attractive. If it shoots well that is what really counts. I'm a big S&W fan and the ugliest gun I have is my Sigma. Which I must say is pretty accurate once you get used to the trigger.

You know, for all the people that complain about Hi Points, I rarely hear anyone say they don't go bang every time you pull the trigger.  They're ugly and I don't like the way they feel in the hand, but if you need an affordable gun why not?

Exactly. I own the C9 and the 9mm carbine, and I haven't ever had a problem with either one.

Also, they have the best warranty out there. Whether you're the 1st or 4th owner, you get a no questions asked lifetime warranty, and a free magazine if you ever have to send it in.

I've been seriously considering one of the carbines (among the half dozen or so guns I REALLY need :D).   If you put the ATI stock on them they're a damn sexy gun, but you can only get the stock for the 9mm model.  If ATI made the replacement stock for the .40 carbine I'd be really tempted.

I was going to get the ATI stock, but I've read that it just causes problems. They recently started shipping the carbines with a new, redesigned stock that I think looks a lot better than the original one. Once they start selling the new stock separately I'm going to buy one for mine.

I had a c9 that work great, kept stove piping the 7th shot, but other than that nice gun. Only reason I got rid of it was to buy my SR9. I also own the 9 carbine. When I go to show it to people I introduce it as the ugliest gun you will ever see., but it hits every thing I aim at. I bought it with the cheap scope, bore sighted it and hit hedge apples at 40yds every time I pulled the trigger. I am thinking about buying a .40 and maybe even the .380 just for the fun of it.
Hi-Point- the poor mans HK

I unfortunatly am one of those that have the bad Hi-Point (in .380) loved the price, who cares about ugly, but it would jamb after 2-3 rounds then stovepipe near the end of the mag.

Well if you decide you want to get rid of that bad .380 let me know.

Have you contacted Hi-point about it? I'm sure they'll try and fix it for you if you give them a call.

Used it a a trade for a CCW revolver for the wife, it gave her the chance to learn that she has trouble handleing the clearing of a semi auto and that a revolver would be best for her.

I looked at 2 of the new carbines today at the Columbus GS. It is a better looking gun now. Might sell mine just to get the new stock.

I'm debating selling mine and getting a new one as well. I like the way they look, and I hear that the bolt stays open on the last round now, wouldn't mind having that.

Old thread I know.

Don't think this belongs in a new thread though.

Cleaned someone's Hi-Point C9.  Firing pin was bent a bit and the plastic spacers on the firing pin spring were crushed.

Also a PITA to disassemble / reassemble.

If you pick up a decent one, then it's all good, but I really suggest avoiding them.  Particularly if you shoot a lot.

Reviews are mixed on them, and they're cheap -- but.... I can't see putting my life in it's hands.  Again, if it's all you can afford... okay... but... I really dislike the thing.

One thing about 'em, if you get a bent firing pin, or even if it's just dirty, you can send it in, they'll fix it, clean it, test it and send it back with a free mag, and it won't cost you a dime.

True, and I did mention this to the owner.  I'm not sure if they're going to bother or not.  Hopefully they do (or properly dispose of the weapon).  That is something that Hipoint gets great marks on - the customer service.  I've heard nothing but great things about it.
