Cabela's in Sidney got this Glock in last spring-ish. I remember seeing it the first time and wondering why the hell anyone would buy the thing, it's just awful. Since then, it's been there; waiting like an old friend. Greeting me when I get to the gun counter and making me have the same thought each time I see it. The only difference from trip to trip is that the price had slowly been creeping down.
Well, on Saturday I went in and it had been marked down to $399. That's a good deal for a new Glock 23. I looked around and realized that I'll not probably be likely to find another deal like that. So I did what any American would do - I asked James at the counter to knock another $50 off. He agreed. I purchased.
Is it pretty, nope. But given the fact that it's for concealed carry, hopefully it won't be seen too many times. :)

And just one more - other side.

It may be ugly but it will get the job done.

Wow!

Ugly is in the eyes of the beholder. To me, is it the prettiest I've seen? Nope. But it did get my attention. Would I buy it for $350? Hell hey. Got my G23 for $425 with retired military discount.

Exactly guys. That's what it all boiled down to - simple economics. Regardless of what kind of stuff they put on it, I'd be a moron to pass it up.
I'm also thinking of taking the slide apart completely and using a product like plasti-dip spray on it. That would be tough and at the same time give it a nice look too. Any thoughts on that? I'm not sure if you're familiar with the product, but it's pretty much canned awesomeness that sprays. :)

If nothing else, the BG will laugh himself to death.... :)

yOdiggity-
No Glock will ever win any visual beauty contests, IMO, but yours definitely beats out that synthetic stocked, pistol-gripped, lever action .410 revolving rifle with the rails on it, that we saw in a recent thread. ;)

I wouldn't do Plasti-coat, or anything like it, but a little Duracoat wouldn't hurt it at all.
-
I wold just leave it as it is. Ain't nobody gonna steal it. Even if they do, they will proably bring it back as not to be caught in the daylight with it. The'd be the laughing stock of the 'hood!
-
A few bucks worth of Duracoat and it will look like new.

ACK!!!!!

The truth about Lorimor is he would buy one if Wilson "made it". :)

I have to admit that Glocks have a certain utilitarian charm to them (well, maybe not the Gen 4's) but that paint job is just wrong. Maybe it's cause I'm not overly fond of snakes. The scale pattern just ain't for me.

Lorimor, Don't you follow the import street racers scene? That there is Carbon Fiber, even when painted on it "makes go fast!"
Come to think of it, Yo's got a factory race-gun right there, a few stickers and some NOS and he's good to go! VVRROOOOOM!

You mean the loud little 4 banger cars that can be heard 3 miles away? Didn't know carbon fiber was part of their diet. Did I mention they're loud?
I kinda like carbon fiber stocks on handguns though.

Did longenburger baskets make the upper on that?

I can't see your pictures, but if it's the one in your avatar, I've seen it.
They had some different patterns for a while, but that one seemed to really hang around :)
Glad someone finally gave it a good home

I had a chance to take it out and, as expected, it performed perfectly reliably. I fed it an assortment of ammo, from $hit to high class stuff and it didn't care at all. I may need to adjust the rear site a bit, but other than that, no problems at all.
So this is scientific proof that even ugly guns can work well.

from a distance it kinda looks like it's got Snake skin covering.
Barring that maybe wearing the Kilt and playing the pipes while carrying it would help!

i'd still buy it yodiggity. even though it ain't (or use to be) the prettyist glock, still a glock.

No body will ever know, just like they don't know about your pink undies: same concept. .....oops, sorry, now err-body knows .... you put it on line.
