Title: Show and Tell: Smith & Wesson rimfire revolver (Model #2?)
Post by: OnTheFly on December 19, 2012, 11:19:00 PM
This was passed down from my dad's collection.  I believe it is a model #2 in .32 rimfire, but have not verified it yet.  Forgive me if my facts are wrong, but I believe it was likely manufactured back in the Civil War era as one of the early handguns with metallic cased ammunition.

Regardless, I thought it was kind of an interesting find.

Now that is a neat gun.  I'm jealous.

A friend of mine from way back in high school days chatted with me a few months ago about a pistol just like that.  Seems when the kids were going thru a lot of stuff after her mother passsed away, they found this gun.  A few inquires to her dad's remaining friends tells her that this was his "boot" gun.  Her dad was a deputy sheriff and city marshall.  He carried a J-frame on his belt and wore cowboy boots all the time.  This was his 'boot' gun.  She was going to get it appraised as it was in real good condition.  Some searches turned up sales in the 4 figure range for high grade condition pieces.  I need to check and see what came of it...
Thanks for the reminder.
