Title: Bulk .224 bullets
Post by: Dan W on November 17, 2011, 09:40:05 PM
I am probably crazy, but I am thinking about buying 6000 Hornady bullets for 223 loading.

I am partial to the Hornady 55 gr Spire points, but I can get a really good deal on the FMJ- BT.

Anyone think they might want to buy some if I take the plunge?  Price would be pretty good, and I would limit delivery to the Lincoln area FTF

I'm in.

You like the spire point? I can't decide... If I get FMJ I need to work up a new load.

My spire point bulk 55's are  better than MOA accurate

This is an outstanding price for Hornady 55gn FMJBT W/C

6K bullets for $430 shipped.

If I hadn't just purchased 2K from Brassman I would be all over this!

Either is fine for me.  I use the FMJ's for stuff like 3 gun and general plinking but the spire points are definitely more accurate.  That's a great deal from Wideners, I've never seen them cheaper.

Did you see my post about the sale at Midway on 55 gr FMJBT  $68 per 1000. That is about the same cost per bullet shipped, but you don't have to buy 6000... of course quantities may be limited

No, I missed that, but that's a really good deal.  I don't think the FMJ's are as accurate as the spire points, but for just blasting ammo they're fine with me.

I am going to monitor the specials this next week and then decide if I can spare $500 for bullets.

Dan, I just posted in my other thread about a bulk .308 bullet buy.  If you're looking for just cheap blasting ammo they have 62gr bullets at $205/3000.
