Title: Any Kydex Holster makers here?
Post by: Chris Z on January 07, 2015, 08:05:55 AM
I'm looking for someone local that can make some very simple kydex holsters..... Post if you know someone around Omaha or Lincoln that does this.

Thanks!

There is a fella out of LaVista that I contacted about a custom holster, but I can't seem to find his FB post.
Looked like quality work.  Another fella around York- LEO, but can't find his either, and Kearney that I can find, but that's a ways out.  I'll do some more searching.

I've made a few and have a press.  Time is my biggest limiting factor.

I have been doing some also. I am in North Lincoln. I am like Mudinyeri I have a press so depending on what you want I might be limited. If my dang phone didn't die this morning I would post a picture of the holster I just made for my 17.

What I am looking for basically is someone who has some thin kydex and knowledge of working with it........ I want to buy some thin kydex sheath's (yes more like a sheath) to store my pistols in that then get put in padded range bags. Just trying to prevent sights from getting dinged up and knocked around when I fly with them.

Nothing fancy, just functional.....

Thoughts?

A couple of us from work made range bag inserts from some plastic foam like stuff, then cut out what we needed for the pistols and mags.  but it might not be the best as far as space savings for flying....

"Saving Space" is critical on packing.... :-) I'm taking five pistols to matches with me and a lot of magazines

Five pistols packed tightly inside a Pelican case (each in their own small range bag). Yes need to cover the entire slide so the rear sight is protected too

What about some Kydex just molded around sights and slide? Clips on and clips off?

Ryan @ 402kydex.com might be able to give you what you want.

Tell him Fritz sent you.  I have seen his work and it's top notch.  He's in Lincoln.  I don't have any more contact info other than his website right now.  He's out until Jan 12th.

Yep something that takes up a very minimal amount of space

Here's a basic knife sheath that I did a while back.

... and a basic holster that I did (MOLLE clip on the back)

Could easily do something along either of those lines.

What about a shroud of sorts that just covers the slide? Retention tab could be inside the trigger guard...

I'd second Mud.  He knows his stuff.

I've formed replacement kydex for my crossbreed - and it's not a terribly difficult process.

But I wouldn't suggest myself for making other folk's stuff :).  I just one offed my own thing.
