Title: MWLW now taking new orders
Post by: sparky on March 28, 2013, 02:44:06 PM
Hello all, I just wanted to let everyone know that Midwest Leather Works is temporarily shutting down new orders, I am in the process of selling my house and my shop in in my garage so I am getting everything taken apart right now.  I hope to be up and running again in a 2-3 months.  Thanks, Matt

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm back up and running after a way longer than expected hiatus.   I should have the belts page up on my website very shortly and the order form is back up and running, or you may just email me.

Amen to that!
I've been here since 85 and I hope they have to carry me out.

Congrats on the move and getting settled into the new place. I have finally spent two years in one place. Amazing what happens when you buy your wife a house! To bad she already wants to move. :(
I will have to check out your site and see if i find something that she says i dont need  ;D

As bad as the move was my new shop was all worth it.  It turned out even better than I was originally thinking it would.  I'm really set up for production now.  Here are a few pictures.  The second picture is of my dye booth, I spray all my holsters with an airbrush so I installed a commercial exhaust fan to vent outside.

Congrats on your new setup... very neat, tidy and organized.

Just a suggestion... you might consider editing your title to 'MWLW Now Taking New Orders'.  If the thread titles are just scanned without reading the thread, it would be easy to assume you're not taking orders.

Hope you have much success!

Matt - How big is your shop? Looks nice.....a place where you can spend hours and hours creating artwork.

I just moved myself, so know what a pain it is.  Hopefully, never again.

It's probably about 130-140 sq.ft.  It is an L shaped room so a little weird to set up but I'm overall very happy with how it turned out.  Sure beats working out in the garage in the winter and summer.

Matt looks great, you just need a few gun posters on those bare walls!
Do you make any holsters for full sized wheel guns?

Thanks, getting things filled in right now, actually I have that peg board pretty full now.  The only dummy guns I have for revolvers is for an LCR and a small J frame.  There are other possible ways around that if your in the Omaha area and if your interested shoot me a PM and we can discuss.

Matt took an old H&R revolver that belonged to my grandfather and was able to build a rig for it. If you don't mind him having your firearm, he can do wonders!

(yeah, i'm partial ;D )

Glad to see you back up Matt! I was starting to worry.
I am about to rebuild my workbench too, as I still use an old drafting table, and will hopefully be able to incorporate a full cutting table into my tiny room.
Nice setup you got now!

Thanks, I was worried myself.  First two house deals fell through and my leather work was down for the better part of last year but it's great being up and running again.  I have added a large cutting board to my cutting bench also, sure makes life easier when you have the room to roll out a full side of leather.

Thanks, keep in mind this was just after I finished building it in my basement, in fact I didn't even have everything moved into it yet so it's a bit more cluttered at the moment.  And now I have a big black dye stain on one of my new benches already where I spilled a entire cup of dye.  I guess it has to happen sometime but why is it always right after you finish it and it looks so nice an clean then BLAM, here's a big mess.

After we bought our current house I told my wife the only way I'm moving again is when they carry me out feet first.

I think I recall reading in another thread that you were working on an IWB style holster.  Are you set up to start producing these or is this still in the R&D stage?  I've been wanting to try an all-leather IWB holster.

I'm taking orders on the single kydex clip, tuckable IWB design.  I have a couple I have orders on and once I get them done I will post some pictures.  This is a fixed cant holster that has an adjustable ride height.  Available in any of my finishes, or as I prefer I also make this holster just oiled and finished with no dye and rough side out, that really makes it stay in place.

Forward cant?  I prefer something like the "FBI" cant.  It just seems to conceal better on me.

That is correct.
