Hunting and Fishing / Re: Coyotes on Public Hunting Land
« Last post by SemperFiGuy on February 04, 2023, 06:24:42 AM »
I haven't yet spent the buck$ for NV or thermal, but I have mounted a nice red lens light on my .17WSM.

And it throws a beam out about as far as you'd want to shoot at night, maybe 200 yards.  And those critter eyes light up like big glowing globes.

Coyotes have been watching their calendars with great anticipation, because coyote mating season kicked in on Wednesday past.  Both sexes will respond to the estrus call.

You are invited to keep us posted with the season's results.

Laws and Legislation / Re: The Dick Act of 1920 .

I've heard this one a couple of times as well, but never followed up on looking for it.

Decided to actualy take a look and see if I could find it.

Library of Congress: https://tile.loc.gov/storage-services/service/ll/llsl//llsl-c57/llsl-c57.pdf

See PDF page 840, page number 775.

Haven't read the entire thing, or to see if it was later changed or repealed in any way, but the first paragraph is interesting:

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United
States of America in Congress assembled, That the militia shall consist
of every able-bodied male citizen of the respective States, Territories,
and the District of Columbia, and every able-bodied male of foreign
birth who has declared his intention to become a citizen, who is more
than eighteen and less than forty-five years of age, and shall be divided
into two classes-the organized militia, to be known as the National National Guard.
Guard of the State, Territory, or District of Columbia, or by such
other designations as may be given them by the laws of the respective
States or Territories, and the remainder to be known as the Reserve
Militia

Laws and Legislation / Re: Any word on Judiciary Cmte? Going to vote 77 out?

Looking like it will go to exec in the next couple of weeks. Some Senators wanted to meet with Brewer after the hearing and so they weren't able to exec that night

Near as I can tell, this is a myth that it negates all gun control but it would be great if it were true.

Laws and Legislation / Any word on Judiciary Cmte? Going to vote 77 out?

So any word yet on whether the Judiciary Cmte has voted out 77?  I know the Chair mentioned it had to be quick or it'd be several weeks before they could all get together to vote.    Toms office isn't saying anything, at least to me.

That was an excellent seminar delivered by Ed Monk.
I hope more of this type of education training seminars happen in the future.

PS what is it with Arkansas-ians and casualty events, thinking of Lt Col Grossman & Monk
