has anyone messed with the 450 marlin? I been offered one in trade. I have a 45-70 guide gun, so I guess that's close, but need input on what this is worth

the marlin owners forum would be a really good place to start on that.

well I now have a blued marlin 450 marlin cal, barrel is stamped jp. it has a safety, 18 1/2 inch barrel . got 4 boxes of brass and 2 boxes of hornady ammo, just ordered a set of dies, already have a bullet mold. well see how this thing works,

its stamped JP? or JM? (John Marlin)

ok ok, so Im old, its stamped JM, was tired when I looked, yea that's the ticket, I was tired

JM stamp is one of the 3 most important things when shopping a used Marlin.
The other is a serial number older than 92xxxxxxx
2100 - 92 = production year 2008
2100 - 91 = production year 2009
and so now
etc you want a serial of a gun made in 08 (some 09's are good) or older, it needs a JM stamp and a CT barrel roll
but those are valuble guns to the right people, and those people are hard to find sometime, which is why i'd tell anyone intested in those types of guns to go to marlin owners forum for information.
