Title: Registration and CHP disqualifications
Post by: Greenlights on January 20, 2021, 11:19:56 AM
My question involves getting a handgun registered with OPD and obtaining a CHP with the state Patrol. I've done my reading and have come across possible disqualifications. Nine years ago I received a possession of marijuana charge less than an ounce. Both websites say it's possible to be disqualified for this within ten years. Being so close to that time restriction, is there any hope to be approved by either? Am I more likely to be approved by one or the other? I haven't touched the stuff in years and would be happy to submit to a drug test. What are my options. To add I've been approved for a purchase permit, is this a good sign? Any advice helps, thanks in advance!

NSP CHP has a Legal Counsel.  Before reading multiple personal opinions I suggest 1) Contact NSP legal counsel with your question. 2) If there is a "hang up" on moving forward with a CHP, contact Dick Clark Law.  He would be worth the consult moving forward to remedying your issues.
