I would not have thought Omaha ranked higher than the national stds.

Doesn't surprise me. There's a LOT more happening in Omaha than gets reported.

My daughter had a home invasion last Sunday. 5 guys kicked in her door, used the phone cord to tie her up, then ransacked her home looking for money and drugs. They didn't do anything to her or her 2 girls (as a matter of fact, the girls slept right through it), thank God!

But, it never made the news.

This past summer, we had someone drive down our street and break the windows out of cars. I saw at least 5 cars with the windows broken out (mine included). They didn't take anything, just smashed out the windows.

That never made the news either.

WarHorse the problem is those things happen everyday, and the news gets old when it is reported that often so they change it up.  Failing to let the public realize how prevalent these crimes are, and how important it is for the individual to be responsible for their own safety.

Poor accuracy by gang-bangers = lower death numbers.

There's no crime in Omaha, they have more restrictive gun laws than the rest of the state.  That means they have lower crime, right?

I would rate Omaha better than Lincoln on gun laws.

Funny you should say that.

2 days ago at work, the discussion turned to crime in Omaha. One of the girls said "Oh please, what's the chances of get mugged in Omaha? Really." I said, "Well, I don't know. What's the chances of having a home invasion in Omaha?"

I went on to tell her about what happened to my daughter. Her jaw just about hit the floor. I think she's still living in her little bubble, but I may have opened her eyes a bit.

You see the ratings for La Vista. Different gun laws but pretty much surrounded by Omaha.
