A search of the residence located a Stevens .22/.410 single-shot over and under rifle/shotgun. It measured well under the legal limit, the barrel just over 12 inches and the overall length just under 19 inches.

The fact that the owner was already a  convicted felon in possession of a firearm would be important to note

I've been looking for one of those Stevens model 24's in .22LR/20 gauge for a few years now.  They're expensive when you can find them.

Here's an example of the one in the story, pre-modification.

I have one of those over-unders.  It only cost $45.00 new in the box.  Really!  Bought it in Rawlins, Wyoming.-----in about 1959.  Nice dove gun.

P.S. the one you are showing is way newer than mine.  Mine has the barrel selector on the side, not the hammer.

If possession of an antique single shot .22/.410 qualifies as 'heavily-armed' I know some people with an absolute arsenal then.
