would it be possible to have a list here, that would somehow tell how each person in the legislature stands on bills? like a thread with all them listed, then people post below and the mods put that into the top list?
-
Yes I can do that.
As members, when you reach out, please post their response on bills like LB-58 and LB-816.

I contracted my senator he said on bills 816 and 58. Bruce Bostelman.

I emailed my senator a week ago, Mike Moser (22). He apparently has forgotten to respond. But I'm not worried. He told us at our meeting that he was a 2A guy.
He also vetoed CCW in Columbus when he was mayor. Ahem.

Lou Ann Linehan (39) responded
Chris,
Thank you for your email. I will not be supporting either LB 816 or LB 58. This is a Constitutional issue, not a right the Legislature should or can thwart.
Thank you,
Lou Ann

This is what I got from Sue Crawford, based on the response to LB816 I am not sure the e-mail was read or she knows what is in it. It appears that I am getting a canned response.
John K
LB816
"Thank you for getting in touch with your concerns about LB 816. I am sympathetic to the need to protect people who are threatening harm to themselves and others. However, I do also want to be sure that there are sufficient due process protections and appeal protections in place for law-abiding gun owners. I will keep your email in mind should LB 816 advance to the full Legislature for debate."
LB58
"Thank you for reaching out with your concerns about LB 58. I have received a great deal of calls and emails about this bill and other bills having to do with Second Amendment rights this session. I am sympathetic to the need to protect people who could harm themselves or others but want to be sure that there are sufficient due process protections and appeal protections in place for law-abiding gun owners. If LB 58 advances to the full Legislature for debate, I will keep your email in mind."

This is my senators reply:
Thank you for your email. I always appreciate hearing from constituents, especially on important issues such as this.
I do not support the Extreme Risk Protection Order Act that was introduced by Senator Morfeld last year. As the language stands, a petitioner may request that a protection order be issued to the individual without the individual’s knowledge. I believe this legislation negatively affects the due process of individuals who could have fraudulent claims filed against them. As I read the legislation, it is up to the individual accused to show the court that they are not a risk to society before the court. I believe the burden of proof should be on the accuser, not the accused, a principle rooted in legal doctrine.
Once again, I thank you for contacting me. If you have any other concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office.

This is my Senator’s reply:
Sheldon:
Thank you for your email expressing your opposition to LB 58, the red flag bill. LB 58 was advanced from the Judiciary Committee on a 5-2 vote. Whether it is debated by the full Legislature will depend on whether it is prioritized by a state senator. The deadline for priority designation is February 21. If it is designated as a priority, it could be on the agenda in the near future.
You can count on my opposition to LB 58. I appreciate your input.
Tim Gragert, Senator
District #40
Nebraska Legislature
(402) 471-2801

I wrote to Sen. Geist (Dist 25) last week, re: LB58. She responded by mail:
Among her comments: "...I have concerns with the way the bill is currently written. I am a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment, and believe that due process is a right of every citizen."

That's what I just received from her today, too.

Don't hold your breath.

Hilkemann responded with his typical (RI)NO answer:
Thank you for your thoughts. I have been visiting with numerous gun owners about LB58, there are some aspects about the bill that are good - but will it always stay with the "judges". I will be following the floor debate closely if it reaches the floor. I am leaning NO, but I will listen intently.

Guess I can breathe now. :D

Good thing he is a Podiatrist. He doesn't have the spine to have been a Chiropractor.

Sen. Matt Hansen does not answer his emails.

I never heard back from Mr. Stinner either. I suppose the e-mail got trashed somewhere along the way.
