Title: Now the shutdown really hurts
Post by: whatsit on October 09, 2013, 11:28:27 AM
Tried to get on the ATFOnline.gov eForm site ( https://www.atfonline.gov/EForms/ (https://www.atfonline.gov/EForms/) ) and got this message:

Quote
eForms Outage

Due to the lapse in appropriation of federal funds, the e-Forms system is temporarily suspended until further notice.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience.

ASSISTANCE:
Please direct questions to the OST Customer Support Help Desk at 1-877-875-3723 or Helpdesk-OSTCS@atf.gov.

Funny things is: it probably cost them money to have an IT guy take the site down and put that page in its place.

Let me get this straight, they make a daily payment to keep their website up?

Our government is bogus as can be, it is time for some real change!

Yep, this is frustrating.

I got a form in just before they shut down the site, luckily.  The really bad part is that with the coming changes to trusts you really need to get forms submitted ASAP if you live in a place like Lincoln where the chief of police refuses to sign off.  If it's not up again soon I would consider sending in a paper form. I don't know if it would be grandfathered or not but at least it would be postmarked prior to December.

So, when are the new NFA-related executive orders supposed to kick into effect? I may be looking at doing a paper form just to get it into their mailbox for when they "re-open."

The comment period ends Dec 1st or so.  I imagine the new regs will be enacted fairly soon after that.

Um... I just got an email from the DOJ (Gary.N.Schaible@usdoj.gov) talking about problems they're having with eForms and payments through pay.gov.

The eForms site is still down, but now it says:

I don't know if this is a good sign or not. Anyone hear anything?
