Thinking about a brand new Springfield XDS 4.0 in .45 ACP.
Opinions, please...
- Good reliability?
- Good trigger?
- Is the stainless slide a necessary and worthwhile upgrade (i.e. does the "blue" one wear easily???)
Seems like a nice piece that offers both decent concealability with the 5-round mag, yet “1911 Commander”-size specifications with the 7-round mag. Have not fired one. Only handled and dry fired. Ergonomics and sights seemed great! Trigger and build quality seemed very good. Maybe I’m missing something.

There's a lightly used one over at Moeller Arms. Three mags and a great price...which I don't remember off hand.

Thanks! I have a weird policy of only buying new guns. I always figure if it was a truly a good specimen, nobody'd have ever traded it off. :)

or they needed money for another project or wife found out about it and wasn't happy.
myself, i am an M&P person, but all of my M&P's have Apex triggers, sears, etc...

I have the 3.3" xds 45. Very nice shooting, crisp trigger break and reset. It has eaten everyone of the 500 or so rounds I've put through it from blazer aluminum casing to top end self defense rounds. It even cycles CCI shot shells without issues. It does have a little bit of kick but nothing unmanageable in my opinion. I'm sure the 4"will help a little with that. I haven't seen any wear so far on the slide but I've only had it for a couple months. I'm also not a fan of stainless steel slides. The grip can be a little aggressive after shooting a hundred rounds or so straight. I've put some Talon grips on mine and it feels great.
Altogether a really nice gun.

Thanks! Great feedback.
I can't believe you can even find the CCI shotshells in 45 ACP. Those are rarer than hens' teeth right now.

If you look hard enough online I found I'll run across a small store that has them now and again.
