Title: ArmsList Just Raised the Ante
Post by: SemperFiGuy on October 26, 2020, 07:33:12 PM
Well, ArmsList is not a Freebie any more.

And so far as I know, they didn't even announce it in advance.   Instead, they just started locking folks out of their free ArmsList accounts until they sign up for the new pay deal.

The new deal is called the Premium Personal Plan.   It will cost $4/month by ACH payment or $7/month by credit card.

Premium Personal Plan Payers get:
   >5 listings (instead of the previous 3)
   >View counter (so you can see the level of interest)
   >Power search  (which they had before for free, but took away)
   >Search alert  (no details/maybe just notifies poster about view hits)

I've tried the Contact Seller button on several posts, but with the new change, you now must be a Premium Personal Plan subscriber to contact most Sellers.  Which means that the general public can't get into the entire ArmsList site without being a paying member.

One exception is Premium Vendor postings.  These PVs are pawn shops, LGS's, and regular full-time commercial sites.  These vendors can be contacted by prospective customers who do not hold a Premium Personal Plan membership.

So--too bad.   It was a good deal while it lasted.
