So I like to play with kydex from time to time. Most of the time its for myself or family.
I have been lucky enough to make a couple of holsters for our great members.
bkoenig hit me up a couple weeks ago seeking a new holster for a 5k run and gun that he is going to do in July. (I think he is crazy) but he wanted to pick up a owb holster with a level 2 retention. He has other competion style holster but he said the gun bounces out when he runs. Not good when your running with a couple hundred rounds, rifle, and pistol.
To keep things simple we decided not to go spring loaded with the hood. I put a o-ring between the holster and the hood. This create some friction to keep it in place. The holster itself has adjustable retention and can lock the gun in pretty tight on its own. But the hood will garentee his cz wont disappear down a gravel road.
Good luck BK shoot straight and drink lots of water!!!!

This is a IWB that I made for myself and my 17 before it was all the way finished... Thought I had one all finished up... ::)

I'm curious to see what he's going to be using since I'm running the event too.

Nice work!

I beta-tested that IWB at the 3 o clock position with my 17. It rides great, is slimmer than expected, and asisde for the unexpected pinching of the soft belly skin on re-holstering its great. :)
Can't wait for mine. Then I can give Matt's leather handiwork a rest.

I wished my stuff was as nice as MWLW. Kydex isn't as neat as his work. But it is simple and functional.
I need to get working on yours. Promise it wont nibble on your skin this time.

All good man, like I said the other day, so long as you add just a bit of a sweat guard the pinching thing should be taken care of.

Just realized I never chimed in here - the holster works very well. The main thing I was concerned with was retention since I'm going to be crawling around on obstacles, going prone, etc. With the hood flipped up the gun isn't going anywhere, but flip it forward and it draws just like a standard kydex OWB. Obviously manipulating the hood slows down the draw time, but for the most part I think I'll be able to flip it forward prior to any shooting stages, and leave it in place while running or negotiating obstacles.

When I was testing things out I found that you could actually push hood all the way back on to the pistol and it would hug it very tight. At that point there was no way for it to come out. this would seriously slow down the draw time but if you had to do something very physical or awkward it would allow you to insure the guns not moving.
Good luck and have fun!
