THE ZOMBIES ARE COMING.
You know it is going to happen. Which means you KNOW you need to practice. So practice at the 2015 ENPS Zombie Match, which will be held on Sunday, October 25th.
This year, we'll have divisions for Centerfire Iron Pistol, Centerfire Open Pistol, .22 Pistol, and .22 Rifle.
For information, go to the website at: http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Zombie1/ZombieMatch.html (http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Zombie1/ZombieMatch.html)
It has general match info, divisions, rules, scoring---and eventually we'll have stages up there for you to look at. If you know you are going to be able to shoot the match, pre-register online through Practiscore (link is on the website). It'll make our registration MUCH faster at the match. Once we get (and accept) your registration, we'll clear you to squad yourself. As time progresses, we might be able to fit some people in on Saturday when the staff shoots, so if you absolutely can't shoot the match any other time, send us an email and we'll see if we can get you in on Saturday. (We can only fit a couple of extra people, though, so please only ask if you absolutely have no other choice.)
If you are on Facebook, like our page at:
http://www.facebook.com/ENPSZombieMatch (http://www.facebook.com/ENPSZombieMatch)
...to get updates, pictures, and (ahem) helpful hints for match success.
So you don't get eaten by zombies.
Here's what attendance has looked like in the past five years:
2010: 55 shooters
2011: 89 shooters
2012: 102 shooters
2013: 118 shooters
2014: 113 shooters (hey, what happened here?!)
2015: ...??
...so let's get out there and SHOOT!
We'd like to beat last year's record. Cost is only $20 or a new-in-the-box toy---and everything goes to the Marine Toys-For-Tots Foundation. We aren't keeping any of it---ENPS is donating the equipment, and the match staff are donating their time. It's a worthy cause, folks. (And feel free to donate MORE. Last year we ended up being able to donate over $1500 and several HUGE boxes of toys.)
Pre-register for the match, and practice those headshots!
If you are interested in a match t-shirt, go to:
http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Zombie1/ZShirts.html (http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Zombie1/ZShirts.html)
...to order one. Graphics are on that page (I'll probably add them here in a later post), and the cost is $22 plus the 3% credit card charge. We are only accepting orders and payment online (because it is a hassle, and the MATCH is our priority).
We'll take shirt orders up until October 16th.
Registration for the match, however---you can do that right up until the end. And if you don't get pre-registered, come out and register yourself at the match. Come shoot!
If you can't shoot the match, stop by and drop off a donation for the Marines. That's the point, after all. Sure, we want to have fun shooting--but the point is to donate for the kids.
See you there!
(I'll add another post when the stages are up.)

do you have to be a member if the ENGC to be able to shoot this?

No. You don't have to be a member for any of the USPSA pistol, three gun, steel challenge, etc.

Well.... I'll stop thread high jacking after this but Silencer HQ had a buddy carbine match in Bennet Sunday. 11 stages pistol/carbine mix a lot of fun physical and mental stages. Everything from memory/comunication stage with shooting in between to mount smurf (scaled down Sig Tower). Scott brought out his fresh 6.5 creedmoore build and let us ring a 4" plate.Just a fun way to spend a 90 deg October day!

Stages are now posted, so check the Zombie Match website for those!
(How are you with an axe? :) )
...and get the word out to people! Currently, we don't have NEARLY as many people registered this year as we have had in the past. C'mon, you know you all want to shoot zombies!
And remember--you can shoot this with a .22 pistol or rifle. Don't have to have a holster for either one of those! It only costs $20 or a new-in-the-box toy, and it is for a great cause.

You can shoot the entire match with a .22 rifle? That's interesting. Having never been to this match, is this all paper targets then? A few of us from Kearney are considering this one, but the information on the website is somewhat unclear. Can you provide a basic description?
Thanks

Um, what is unclear on the website? The reason I ask is because I wrote it, and if things aren't clear I'd like to change them.
Targets:
Steel: Plates must fall to score. Poppers and Texas Star plates must fall for centerfire guns, must show evidence of hit for .22
Paper heads: Any one shot in the head is sufficient.
Infected (USPSA metric targets): Any three hits on the target are sufficient.
The rules for safety, stage management, and so on (basically everything except scoring) is standard USPSA.
Scoring is closer to Multigun in that everything is time-based. Penalties (such as targets not neutralized) add time.
You can shoot the match with a .22 pistol, a .22 rifle, or a centerfire handgun. Centerfire handgun requires a holster. Any .22 requires a case and a chamber flag. If the stage specifies a holstered start, the .22 shooters will start with the firearm pointed at an orange cone downrange on the stage.
Stages are posted: http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Zombie1/ZStages.html (http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Zombie1/ZStages.html)
...so you can get yourself a PDF copy of the stages and take a look at what will be required.
Is there anything else I can clear up?

Nope, that's great, thanks. I was looking at the Club website and did not see a lot of info. Thank you. I'll see if I can round up a few for a road trip. ;)

Ah, that makes sense---the club website has nothing on it. The Zombie Match website is this:
http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Zombie1/ZombieMatch.html (http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Zombie1/ZombieMatch.html)
Be sure to use the link to register for the match to make the staff's lives easier!

Online registration for the match is going to close Friday! You can still register in-person on match day (Sunday) but it would help us out a LOT for planning and squad setup if you registered online before Friday!
Hope to see you all there, this really is one of the MOST fun matches of the year. And it's for a good cause!
-
I just tried to register and it says closed? Today is Thursday, what's up?

There was an error on the registration page---it closed on Thursday at 6pm for some reason instead of Friday at 5pm. That has been fixed, though.
So---it is open again until 5pm today.
Note: If you don't get registered online, that doesn't mean you can't shoot. It just means you need to get to the match on Sunday and get yourself registered prior to 8:30 (so show up WAY before 8:30, since there will be a line) so that you can donate and shoot.
Also remember: If you registered online, you still need to check in prior to 8:30 to donate, get your scoresheet, check your registration details, and sign off so we keep your registration in the scoring software. If you forget to check in, not only will you not have a scoresheet and won't be in the scoring software---most importantly, you won't have donated which is the reason for doing all of this in the first place!
We'll be out there today setting up stages starting at noon, then staff will be shooting it tomorrow. See you all on Sunday!

Good to see everyone out there today---and we set a new record for the Zombie Match: 121 shooters! (Previous record from two years ago was 118.)
Yay us!

Thank You so much to all who had a hand in putting this worthwhile even on.
It was a ton of fun, the Marines who were there seemed pleased with the turnout and the donations!
Please bring back Pistol Cal. Carbine class!!

Thomas, thanks for the help directing me to the correct website. Four of us drove about 3 hours to participate for the first time in this event. It was my wife's first match of any kind and we all had a great time. Very well run & thought out.
