Title: Belt
Post by: DJSIMS on December 24, 2013, 07:49:07 AM
If you are looking for a great carry belt, just got mine, http://www.thebeltman.net/. (http://www.thebeltman.net/.) Very impressed, I got the no buckle, very comfortable, extreme quality, not cheap though. I have been wearing 5.11 belts and was happy with them, the beltman blows them away in quality and comfort!

I used one of those for a little over two years and liked it a lot, especially for the price.  Switched to one of these based on a recommendation I read on here, maybe from Dan? http://www.copsplus.com/prodnum9563.php (http://www.copsplus.com/prodnum9563.php) the polymer reinforcing makes a big difference to me.

I tried ordering one of the Akers but couldn't find a single place that had one in stock in the size I needed.

I didn't know that.  I actually looked at his site but didn't see them.

Yeah, it took a while to find one.  copsplus claimed they were in stock, then emailed me right away with an out of stock notice...

The Wilderness.  Original Instructors belt.  Two thumbs way up.  Double thick, polymer lined.  Very stiff.  Buckle rated at 6,000 pounds.

I actually did order one from copsplus, but going off the sizing instructions on the site it was too small, I could barely get the last hole buttoned.  They didn't have the next size up so I had to just send it back for a refund.  Too bad, because I did want a polymer reinforced belt and the price on the Aker is very reasonable.

BK, they are under the pics.  Matt does excellent work, and since he has his new shop set up, he's taking orders.  I need to order one myself.

Yes I do make belts, two strips of leather sewn together to give you a nearly 1/4" thick stiff gun belt.  I use either solid brass or stainless buckles in heal or roller style.  I charge $80 for them + tax.  I only use top grain Herman Oak leather for my goods and it doesn't get any better than Herman Oak for quality and durability.

If anyone cares about my opinion of belt stiffeners here it is, I think belt stiffeners are really only beneficial for belt sizes 50+, when you get longer strips of leather your overall stretching is going to be a bit more, otherwise I think it takes a lot longer to form to your shape and hit that really comfortable spot.
Usually two things are used to stiffen the belts- either kydex strips or that plastic banding stuff you see around shipping pallets and such.
The problem with kydex is if your like me most of the time when I take off my pants I leave my belt in them till morning and change it out then, but if it gets stepped on or kinked ever it will keep that kinked shape, it will deform it and I don't know how you could get it out.  Anyways that's just my opinion on the matter.
Thanks for all the kind words and orders from the membership here, you all have really supported me and my business and I appreciate that.

Well, this is funny.  I had back ordered an Aker B21 in the correct size but it was going to be at least a month so I cancelled it.  The other day I went to the mailbox and there was a package containing an Aker B21.  Apparently they didn't cancel the order.  I'm not too upset, I can always use another belt.  Now I have two dedicated CCW belts to compare.

Before I had been using a relatively stiff leather belt I'd had for years.  It wasn't meant for CCW but it worked ok.  Not great but it got the job done.  With both of these new belts I notice a big difference.

You can never have enough good quality gun belts... Never.
