Title: Joaquin Jackson - an anti-gunner running for the NRA Board
Post by: bkoenig on March 04, 2013, 08:55:43 PM
Joaquin Jackson has been an NRA Director for some time and he's up for election this year.  Unfortunately, he doesn't believe peons like you and I should be allowed to own self loading rifles and standard capacity mags.  If you're an NRA life member or a have been an annual member for 5+ years you are eligible to vote in the Board of Directors election.  Please help give this guy the boot.

I will look into this, and from what I see in this video, we will do our best to retire him.

Interesting that he can see a domino effect on Constitutional Rights, but doesn't see it in the elimination of certain firearms. Once the line is crossed, when will it be crossed again?

Jackson should not be in the NRA in any capacity. Can elected members be impeached? :o

The story I read stated that he backpedalled and said he meant fully automatic guns.  Not sure if it was a reliable source, so take it as you will.  Regardless, that doesn't help his position IMHO.

Also, I believe that video was from way back in 2007.

While we can appreciate his sponsorship of the 2005 Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, Larry Craig needs to go too.

Yes, he did make a statement basically claiming that what he said in plain English wasn't what he really meant.  I don't believe him.  I think he got caught stating his true beliefs, and when he was called out on it he tried to cover his tracks.  Regardless, we need people who are not going to go out and say things like that which can be used against us.

Either way it doesn't really matter to me.  He could be talking about 5 round magazine limits on Assault Rifles or AR-15s, but he would be wrong on both counts.

Larry Craig needs to go too.

I've been on board with seeing him go since his "I have a wide-stance" in a MN airport bathroom performance.

Would be interesting to hear what NRA board member Ted Nugent thinks of this guy?

I voted against both Jackson and Craig. I was much more enthusiastic about denying support to Jackson though.
