Title: Schuster's Meats in Lincoln
Post by: bkoenig on December 20, 2010, 10:35:53 PM
I picked up my Summer Sausage from Schuster's today and man did they do a good job.  I got half plain and half with jalapenos, and while they're both good the jalapeno sausage is the best summer sausage I've ever had.  This was the first year I've taken my deer to them but it won't be the last.

They're on about 86th & Cornhusker, in an old gas station building.  They don't have a website but their number is (402) 467-2907.

I'm not sure about any restrictions.  The charge depends on how they process it - mine was $103 with 10lbs of summer sausage and the rest cut up into chops, roasts, ground meat, etc.

I used to process my own but I didn't have time this year.

thanks for the info.  do you have to skin the deer before bringing it to them?

If your not into boning out your own deer and are near Humphrey they will bone it out for $65 and grind burger for like $.23 a pound. The place is called Country Butcher, this was the first year I've used them and was really pleased.  I just got burger, steaks cut, and a couple roasts and I make my own sticks, sausage and jerky I just hate to cut up the deer, takes too long and end up with a sore back for a week.

No, I took mine in just field dressed.  It was something like $12 to skin and $70 for the boning & grinding.  I assume if you wanted to you could take it in already skinned.

Just wanted to put in a plug for Tony and his crew out at Schuster's Meats. I have taken almost all of my deer out to them for many years now and have always been happy with both service and products.
