Title: IFAC's and Medical needs
Post by: gibbs459 on November 06, 2011, 11:33:37 AM
As I read through some of the posts in this section, I am having trouble finding anything on medical gear or first aid.
I would like to hear what you guys are carrying in your home’s,  BOB’s, Vehicle’s, and on your web gear. Medical kits are mission specific so all of these kits will be different.
I am just looking for ideas to improve my gear. I am repacking my VBOB’s for winter and am thinking improvements can be made.

I carry a major bleed kit with me regularly with my CCW. Cheap Insurance.

This kit didn’t cost much to put together and can be effective with basic training.
1.   Roll of 2 inch medical tape
2.    4 inch compress
3.   .88 oz Quick Clot sponge
4.   C.A.T. Tourniquet
5.   6 inch Israeli Battle dressing

I also have the same kit in my BOB’s but add:
1.   Band Aids
2.   Ibuprofen
3.   Burn gell
4.   Steri-strips
5.   Ace wrap
6.   Alcohol swabs
7.   Clothing sheers

To be honest, for the price you cant go wrong with one of these,

As an EMT, it gets my stamp of approval.  Darn near everything you would realistically need, and you can add maybe a SAM splint as well.

I put in my a knee, elbow, foot splints a pint of rum leave it sealed as so can not be considered a open container, beside the upgraded first-aid kit,

That is a pretty decent deal! I don't think you would buy all of that stuff separately for that price.

And Oh yes there is a flask of Whiskey in BOB!
