Title: Rock River Arms
Post by: Roper on December 27, 2012, 08:25:38 PM
Anyone familiar with RRA AR's?

I have a RRA national match upper.  It's extremely accurate, in fact it shoots better than I can hold.  I've never benched it or shot it with optics but the bullet goes exactly where the front post is.  I just bought it late this fall and I plan to do some CMP High Power competition with it next year.

I loved the RRA  I had until that boating accident.

I am looking at a left handed model but wanted some informed opinions of this group.

I think you only have 2 choices in left hand models, Stag and RRA, and I think they are nearly equivalent in quality. RRA standard barrels are not chrome lined, at least they weren't when I was shopping years ago, but I have found the RRA non chrome barrels ( made by Wilson) to be very accurate and they used ti be guaranteed 1 MOA at 100 yards

Can you actually buy one, or order it and hope it arrives while the dollar still has a positive value?

When I bought my CMP upper this fall it was right after Camp Perry, and the only reason I got it in 30 days was because RRA had made a bunch of extra match grade uppers to take to Nationals and I got one of the leftovers.  I imagine right now you're going to have to get on a waiting list.

If you can't order or buy it locally www.ar15sales.com (http://www.ar15sales.com) is a good dealer.

Just for fun, here's mine.  With bacon.

I built the wife a left handed AR. PSA lower with a Stag carbine length left handed flat top complete upper. Not what I would call a tack driver but is was MOA @ 100yds. Oddly enough, I too had a boating accident and lost all kinds of things to the big muddy. You think we would learn to NOT take them with us on these boat trips.

I have an email into them to see if I need to go through a dealer to order or just have it shipped to one. I'm guessing I'll need to start at the dealer.  It will be interesting to see how long it takes, their website states that right now it is hard for them to estimate time to delivery due to the demand.  Will keep you all posted if i decide to get one.  Bacon and AR's - that's a great combo!

Ale, but unfortunately I was out of home made stuff at the time.  And you can't make an Arfcom dinner pic without beer.

Roper,

Another option if you can't find what you want would be to buy a complete right rifle, and then buy a left hand upper receiver and convert it.  I assume you would need a left ejection bolt as well but I'm not sure.

Yep, also need a left hand bolt. Better off just ordering a complete upper with bcg from Stag.

Buying the upper is a great idea, I will look into that as well.  Thanks everyone.
