Title: Getting stamp for my existing lower

I have a lower that i want to use in a SBR build. I just started paperwork for a trust. What steps do i need to take, once my trust is finished, get a stamp for the lower i already have? I know about the engraving, it is the ATF paperwork i am completely unfamiliar with. Thanks in advance for your advice/help.

Form 1. Do it electronically for much faster stamp approval (usually).

Get trust, fill out paperwork, mail with check (unless eforming), wait, wait, wait, while waiting get lower engraved, wait some more then assemble only after stamp is approved and in your possession. Any more questions, just ask!

You can't tax stamp a lower receiver it must be assembled as a rifle first.

This is true only if you want to become a felon.  You CANNOT assemble your SBR BEFORE getting your ATF approval/stamp.

I used the eforms Form 1 process. I already had a trust with my suppressors. Super easy and had it back rather quickly (3 months?). Other things came up and I still haven't bought a short barreled upper yet... So for now it's just hanging out. Had two lowers engraved at the same time but only put the paperwork in for one.

Definitely get all the paperwork done before you buy the short barrel and do the engraving prior just in case something goes wrong with the engraving process you're not out $200.

I never indicated one build a short rifle from a short rifle, I said you can't build a short rifle from a receiver, it must be a rifle, not a receiver.

Just like you can't sell a receiver across state lines, or a person under 21 can't buy a receiver from a ffl dealer, because it's not a rifle.

But you can turn a pistol into a sbr? It is my understanding you are manufacturing a sbr and registering the serial number
