Picked it up today. It's the first Bullpup I've owned. In fact, the Tavor is the first bullpup I've ever even held. They are a little heavy- but balance very well. Can't wait to put some rounds through it this weekend.

nice!

does that take special mags? or will AR-15 mags work?
-
Did you pick that up in Lincoln?

I am so jealous. 40th anniversary coming up in April. My wife told me she wants a pair of diamond stud ear rings. I told her I want an IWI Tavor. She will get the ear rings, I am sure I will get ..... after shave.
::)
Enjoy your Tavor. Next best thing to a SBR.

Heavy is fine as long as it's balanced ok. I've never shot one of these but they're an interesting design.

Takes AR mags- comes with a Pmag, actually.
I ordered it from Atlantic arms, transferred through a FFL in Omaha.
Denman- you're absolutely right as far as an SBR. The Tavor is a couple inches shorter than my 11.5" AR SBR! If the Tavor and the Sig 'arm brace' woulda come out a few yrs earlier I would have saved several hundred $$'s on tax stamps.

How is the trigger? I know some bullpups have funky triggers.

I believe they work well with any AR-15 mag.

I was just on Deguns.net, and you can buy one there for 1799.00, and pick it up at their store location here in town.

Bkoenig- the trigger is a little long and heavy, but not as bad as I expected based on some reviews I read. There are some options to improve it too.
Sgt- I paid $1589 from Atlantic Arms. Which is about what they're going for on Gunbroker.
Here is my rather petite wife squeezing off a few on Sun afternoon.

:) I see your wife is Special Forces... ( sorry I couldn't help it!)
All joking aside, it's sounds like you're enjoying the rifle, and I have heard that there is a couple companies that are lookin into tuning the triggers on them.

As a new-ish tavor owner, I'll bring this one back. The rifle definitely needs some mods. The default rail is about 1/2" too low for most AR-15 scopes, you can get a raised one for around $100. The default trigger is a horrible 12 lb pull, can be modified down to 8 lbs, either way there are a few 2-stage triggers out there but all in the $300 range.
The default butt-pad is also pretty pad. All being said I put a $350 geissele super sabra trigger in it, a raised rail from Gear Head Works, a curved buttstock and forend grip from Manticore arms (the latter being mostly cosmetic). Oh an a Jerry Miculek muzzle brake for ****s and giggles. It cost quite a bit to modify but it is definitely my most favorite rifle. And as someone else pointed out, it's actually shorter than some SBR's.
