I know slow-mo, high frame rate cameras aren't too common as consumer devices and I wasn't really interested in the new 120-fps capability of the iPhone 5S camera until my wife and I realized it could be a very valuable learning tool. We went to work on handgun technique Saturday, and this is what we did:

I'm definitely going to use it more to analyze mistakes.
Anyone else do this yet?

It is going to be a while before I get a iPhone 5. I have a 4S, but I don't think there is a slow-mo option. Or at least I haven't found it.
On a sort of related note, I was watching people fire at the last Rock Your Glock match. The sun was coming up from behind us, and you could see some of the slower bullets moving downrange. That is one of the coolest damn things I have seen for a quite a while. I am wondering if the video on one of the better smart phones could pick the bullets up. Probably not, as advanced as they are, the human eye is pretty darn amazing.
ETA: Just my two cents...I zoomed in on the video, and from what I can see the web of the hand is not completely up as high as it can go on the back of the pistol grip. If not, moving it up will help with some of that snap she is getting in the wrist.

There are internet tools that any you tube video can be slowed down.
This one is free, and does a nice job of letting you see frame by frame.

What caliber is she shooting? I would have her work on grip. Looks to me she is shooting something of a larger caliber than she is comfortable with. I know I am uncomfortable watching her shoot, with all that after shot wobble.
Good job bringing this to the forums attention that there are video tools that can help us be better shooters.

I don't think the caliber is the issue. I moved from 9mm to .40 because the recoil was easier (for me) to handle. Less "flip" and more "thunk". My grip is strong, but I do know that if my support hands gets even the slightest bit tired, I see a lot more recoil no matter what caliber I'm shooting.
I'm guessing you didn't post the video to get all sorts of critique on the grip, but I do agree with fly. The strong hand can be moved up a bit, and the support hand brought in to close the gap between the "thumb pads."
Having said that -- I LOVE to see more females getting into the sport! :) Thanks for posting the video!

Yes...sorry if I gave too much input. I have been an instructor for years and it is just my nature.

I agree. We need more people of both genders, all races, and all political affiliations. That is what will ensure the protection of the 2A.

It's a public forum -- I realize anyone can comment or advise, so no issues there. As a disclaimer though, it's been a while since she shot and this was the last shot of a long practice and her hand was tired. It's an LC9 and she is able to handle it well.

A suggestion for future videos, turn your phone horizontal so you get the full view.
