I used quality components, So maybe it's overkill, but just wondering if anyone has a guy with the gauges and who will charge a reasonable fee to verify my headspace...

If anyone is interested I used:
Matrix aerospace stripped upper/ lower
Wilson combat LPK (minus FCG)
Palmetto upper parts
AEG qms trigger
Tapco milspec tube/buffer/spring
Magpul CRT milspec stock
Bravo company 16" mid length barrel, chrome lined
CMMG BCG, melonite
bravo co gunfighter charging handle
Slipstream low profile gas block
WMD gas tube, melonite
Diamondhead 10.5" VRS-T FF handguard
Troy fixed battle sights, diamond aperture rear/ HK front
Yankee hill machine phantom 5C2 flash hider
Oh, and my mom and my buddy modeling ...
-
I wouldn't worry about it. With a quality BCG and a quality barrel/extension you're going to be ok.
-
I take it you've done a few builds...?
-
I've built a half dozen or so uppers for myself and friends. Never had a headspace problem. Not to say it can't happen, but it's extremely unlikely with the AR design.
-
:(Thanks...ultimately, I'll likely just take her out for a spin...but while I have your attention - any recommendations for barrels for a targeted model type gun - or maybe something more suited for varminting? Just bought another lower and am thinking about doing a setup based more on accuracy long range...hbar or bull, etc
-
I'm a big fan of White Oak barrels. They're used by a lot of National level high power shooters.

They are way over a year behind in orders though. A buddy of mine ordered a 6.5 Grendel barrel in May of '12 - still not done.

I'll head space it for you, if your mom brings me over a sammich... ;) 8)
Just kidding... everybody settle down. Seriously!!
I have headspace gauges if you really want it checked.
-
I am surprised not one of you has mention the poor trigger finger control.....
Anyway, good looking build.

heh - I have been hearing it all my life from my buddies...used to it by now...
Noe that uncle sam allows me to take leave, my scheduled hunting trip is back on and Im hearing out next wednesday - i can pretty much guarantee I won't have time to get my sh*t together to use those guages - but i do sincerley thank you for the offer.
-
tell your buddy to get his bugger hook off the trigger,
Yeah, believe me, I know. My my mom even knows better.
-
Just one suggestion, you might want to move that rear sight to the back slot. Might as well make the sight radius as long as possible, plus it will give you more room for optics. Aperture sights are designed to be right up close to your eye.

Your mom is cool, I don't think I could get mine to hold an AR and grin...
