Title: Holstered Handgun in a Lock Box
Post by: Thanke on December 08, 2013, 12:56:26 PM

I love the kydex clam shell holster and compact pistol because it's easy to put on and take off. However, the pistol doesn't fit into the lock box holstered, and it would be swell if I could take it off and lock it up in the car while it remained in the holster. Does anyone have suggestions for a lock box that is similar to this one, but maybe a little bit wider to fit a holstered pistol in?

Thanks,
(first time trying to use pictures, hopefully successfully...)

Could the box be deformed, or reformed to be a bit deeper?

I have a couple of the same boxes and have been looking for a deeper box too. These are fairly cheap, but probably not any worse than the GunVault Nano.

Just a keyed lock, not a combo... but this seems like it would be deep enough.

This may be larger than you want, but it is a little stouter, and the lock is better quality.

I'm not sure if they still have them, but cabelas had similar boxes under the Bulldog Brand.  Not the highest of quality, but if are looking to "Comply" with in your locked car- they would work.

Have you thought about trimming the foam...particularly around the mounting clip?

You could buy a bit of foam and cut your own foam insert.   If it doesn't work you are not out much and can put the original foam back in.
