Who: Craig Douglas "SouthNarc"
What: ShivWorks ECQC - Extreme Close Quarters Concepts
When: June 27/28/29, 2014
Where: Council Bluffs, IA / Omaha, NE
Why: The ShivWorks Extreme Close Quarter Concepts (ECQC) course is a two and a half day (20 hours) block of instruction which focuses on a multi-disciplinary approach to building functional, combative handgun skills at zero to five feet. The course is designed to instill core concepts of seamless integration and provide the platform for aggressive problem solving during a life or death struggle. A heavy emphasis is placed upon commonality of body mechanics between skill sub-sets, which means that all combative software is reinforcing. Once the student’s skill sets are initially ingrained, the participant will be stress inoculated with force on force drills utilizing marking cartridges and protective equipment.
Cost: 450.00

Outstanding. Have heard NUMEROUS good things about this class, and have discussed CQ topics with SouthNarc on the p-f forum. Good stuff, and he 1) has some good, well-thought-out things to say, and 2) doesn't assume he knows everything so he keeps researching what really happens.
Not cheap, but this may be my birthday present to myself this year. :)

Mr. Douglas is THE man.

Should be a GREAT one! Craig has some excellent information available on the net and from my interaction with him, he is an easy to deal with and friendly dude!

Well, this is just too unique an opportunity to pass up. I'll be there (deposit is on the way).
And I see a nut-cup and mouth guard are required, so anyone who ever wanted to get a chance to physically assault me should be jumping at this :)
(Just a honest head up, yes I wrestled in high school, I did combatives, and even boxed for a little while, but I suuuuuuuuuuuucked at all three of those, so don't expect me to be on the same level as ya'll martial arts folks)

Sending in my deposit now. Happy New Year!

Hi All -
Two updates for ya...
#1 - Course is half full as of 1/14/14.
#2 - Friday evening there will be a MUC - Managing Unknown Contacts portion available to those who don't/can't attend the full ECQC Course (if you signed up for ECQC, this portion is included)...details below for those interested in MUC:
Managing Unknown Contacts: (MUC)
Managing Unknown Contacts or MUC is the strategy template for victim de-selection that begins all ShivWorks courses regardless of the discipline (empty hand, blade, handgun). It is two hours in length and may be taken stand alone. The module will introduce the Criminal Assault Paradigm and discuss the contrast with most training modalities. A strategy of awareness, avoidance, and de-selection will be introduced that has been proven highly successful in thwarting common criminal set-ups. The instructional methodology will include lecture and interactive role-play.
Course cost: $100.00
Contact me if you are interested.

Excellent course. Craig met and exceeded all expectations. I highly recommend this course. It was not really a shooting course or even a "handgun" course. I would call it a "fighting" course and a "problem solving" course.
Can't wait to train with Craig in the future.

Agreed, excellent course and excellent instructor. For realistic civilian self defense skills and knowledge, I got more out of this course than I dreamed possible. Best money I've spent in a while.
At this point I'm just wondering how long until my skeleton and various organs stop hurting :)
