Finally, a Husker Team to be proud of.  ;)

(I have just recently, through a series of fortunate circumstances, and new acquaintances, have recently been paying attention to this team)

Our rifle team really is something to be proud of----they came out of nowhere, worked incredibly hard, and have done incredible things.  Technically an NCAA coed sport, we have an all-women's rifle team.  And we've had two people win individual national titles, too. 

Conference champions twice, invited to NCAA tournament 8 times---and the program only started in 1998.  (I suppose that's been awhile now, but I remember reading about them when they had just began---they impressed a LOT of people.)

Yes very Top Notch program that we sadly don't hear enough about.

My brother sent me some vids of a Sharp Shooter named Kristen Joy Weiss .  Cute kid, Badass Shot.

After reading her bio - I contacted her and began chatting about the industry and her days on the UNL Rifle Team.....
Sadly, and maybe it's a sign of age, but I'm not sure if I'm more infatuated by her beauty(and brains)  or the equipment she is using. 'Cause brother, that is one sweet Anshutz.   :kiss:

i went to a match a couple years ago with my dad.  they are great shots.  i would never challenge them to anything.

and when they take their promo shots on campus, they have to have a police escort.  the reason?  the coach told me people called the cops because people had guns on campus.

Because a number of fit college coeds posing with a photographer are obviously EXACTLY the sort of people that start campus massacres.

just a random question... is there any way the NFOA can help them out?  i know there's NCAA rules and such.  maybe show up to match?

Good Question Mr. H.  I have been in contact with the head coach, and she gave me further contacts for such purposes.  I'm hoping when the legislative biz slows a bit, I can get down and have a chat with the gals.
I was hoping to get them to stop by the booth last weekend, but they had these 2 all day meets.
I am hoping to recruit the ladies for this year's TopShot with the scouts.  ;) 
(Put our best against theirs- nothing like a boy's broken ego to teach humility, right? ;) )

As for now, I think the best we can do is share the scores with our buddies, let it be known they are a top notch team.  Maybe if we can get the Collegiate Shooting Sports more popular, they will field more teams.

....one problem with going to a match is that it is actually quite boring to watch.  :(

That doesn't take away from the talent and skill necessary to succeed, nor take away from how COOL it is to see people shooting so well.

But it is still boring to watch.  (I don't watch golf, either, so maybe it is just me...)

I'd love to see them come out to ENGC and shoot a highpower match.  Sure, it is a different type of shooting---but they've got excellent trigger control and serious fundamentals.  It would be cool to see these smallbore and airgun shooters take shots at distance with an AR---because I bet with a tiny bit of practice to get used to the sights and the trigger, they'd do REALLY well.

...and then we'd need to talk them into trying Multigun....    ;D

The girl second on the left is a good family friend. Not sure how she did while she was at unl but as a kid she was really good.

What I liked most is the difference between the two teams.  Nebraska just seemed to have less "Green" showing.
