this is just getting stupid, you cant have a no gun zone sign because there is a pic of a gun on it.

Or stupidity, or both.

"I think the general public will be alarmed.."
Would wetting one's pants be an acceptable defense tactic when confronted with alarming signage? ::)

No, no, that only works to stop rape from occurring.

All I hear on this topic is more griping from the mentally ill people in charge of teaching our nations children about their leftist communist ideals....
On a side note it's nice to see that Illinois got uniform signage from the get go. Too bad we couldn't get that done here.

Hmm, generalize much?

True.
That all being said, people might head over to Michael Z. Williamson's blog and take a look---he's initiated an email exchange with the school person in question, and has some interesting things to say about it---in particular that he started off thinking she was a complete and utter idiot, then realizing through the discussion that she was actually trying to walk a fine line between admitting that the signs do nothing, and keeping parents from going ballistic.

Interesting article. She agrees that she was cherry-picked to present a view that wasn't in her original statement. IOW, the original article made her appear to be insane or stupid. Her concern wasn't for conceal carry permit holders, who are trained in where and where not to carry, but for the untrained. Her preference was for a sign that read "No Concealed Carry Weapons allowed".
