I had not eaten at that location in a few years. 10 years ago, I operated a business down the street from there, and did eat occasionally.
www.bidawad.com (http://www.bidawad.com) will be having an auction, selling off the fixtures, if anyone wants to purchase a piece (pun intended) of history.
Thank you Val's original, for the many great years!

They did build a new location right across the street to the east...

I remember going there in the 70's while visiting friends at NU.
The place was packed!!

One of the first places to put up the NO GUNS signs after the CHP law was passed here in Nebraska.
Never really was impressed with their food, seems to be getting worse in recent years.

Yeah new location, but sorry no buffet. That's what I was told.

I'm sure that the current product offered by Val's is a far cry from what it was originally. It would be interesting to go back in time and taste one of their pies when they were a one location business. Today Val's is known largely for their buffet, or as a friend used to call it, their Barf-et. Their quantity over quality offerings have great appeal in the midwest where feeding troughs are coveted. After being drug to Val's buffet by friends/family, I've thought that their buffet should have a sign hanging over it proclaiming "Best food you can get from a can". Because I've watched their employees scrape out prepared foods from large cans into the trough.
No CCW at Val's? No problem for me.

Count me as another that has never cared for their food. I've always thought it's extremely overrated.
