Should we look into the costs of a billboard? Even if for only a week?

I would chip in 50 toward putting that on a billboard.

Make that $100.

I was looking at Lamar.  http://www.lamaroutdoor.com/index.html

Not too bad, really.  I don't know the terms used here,  but I can read dollar signs.   :dink:

Media     Size                     18+ Pop     GRP      # Panels     Total 4 Week Net Rate     Flight     Avg DEC / Panel     CPM
Poster    10'5" X 22'8"    575,000    --    1    $625            4 weeks    17,800    $1.25    General
Poster    10'5" X 22'8"    575,000    5    2    $1,250    4 weeks    17,800    $1.25    General
Poster    10'5" X 22'8"    575,000    10    4    $2,500    4 weeks    17,800    $1.25    General
Poster    10'5" X 22'8"    575,000    15    5    $3,125    4 weeks    17,800    $1.25    General
Poster    10'5" X 22'8"    575,000    20    7    $4,375    4 weeks    17,800    $1.25    General
Poster    10'5" X 22'8"    575,000    25    9    $5,418    4 weeks    17,800    $1.21    General
Poster    10'5" X 22'8"    575,000    50    17    $9,979    4 weeks    17,800    $1.18    General
Poster    10'5" X 22'8"    575,000    75    25    $14,275    4 weeks    17,800    $1.15    General
Poster    10'5" X 22'8"    575,000    100    33    $17,985    4 weeks    17,800    $1.09    General

So it looks like two panels for $1250 for 4 weeks.  Not sure why there isn't a GRP listed for one panel (and no, I do not know what a GRP is.  Remember, I don't know the terms used here.)

Looks like the work of Oleg Volk(always good stuff!).  I'm sure there would be copyright issues.

Thanks for the link.  Those are excellent.   I wonder what it would take to get permission to use one of these?

GRP (short for Gross Rating Point) is an acronym used in advertising to measure the size of an audience reached by a specific media vehicle or schedule. It's the product of the percentage of the target audience reached by an advertisement, times the frequency they see it in a given campaign. For example, a TV advertisement that is aired 5 times reaching 50% of the target audience, it would have 250 GRP = 5 x 50% -- ie, GRPs = frequency x % reach. It is most commonly used by the bigger companies.

I like the idea of the billboard, but I think we could reach a larger slice of the population with posters posted around various towns than a billboard somewhere. It does send a pretty good message though.

I believe Posters could be very effective too.   How would we get permission to post them and where would they get posted?

Some of Volk's work would be excellent for getting our message out in front of proposed Castle Doctrine legislation.

OTF, thanks for explaining GRP.  That makes sense.

Thank you for checking with him.  I've had that on my list and hadn't gotten to it yet.  I'm very pleased with his response to you.
