Title: Shipping Powder
Post by: rbrooks on July 24, 2014, 11:21:57 AM
I would like to ship some gun powder to Texas. Does anyone know how to ship explosives? UPS will only ship it if you have a HAZMAT contract with them. Can FFL dealers ship gun powder?

Pretty sure you have to be a licensed explosives dealer to ship it.  I've been trying to find a definitive answer myself ... without setting off any alarm bells.

You have to have a Hazmat certification. Google hazmat. You might try finding a dealer who ships that might ship it for you for a fee. Don't mislabel it and ship, as the Feds don't take kindly to it.

For what its worth gunpowder is NOT an explosive,  as it doesn't explode, it burns at a controlled rate of speed as determined by the manufacturer.

As for shipping, I don't have any idea.

As if that matters to BATFE. :D
