Hello, today at breakfast, D&K let us know that they will all be out of town next month Oct 4th and will be closed.
We could;
(1) Re-schedule for the 3rd Sat. in Oct, the 18th at D&K.
(2) Take a month off and resume in Nov.
(3) Try another location on Oct. 4th.
I am open to whatever members want to do, today being a Husker game day our turnout was light, we talked about it a little, but came to no decisions.
Post up your thoughts.
Thanks Greg58
-
I'd say either another location on the 4th or skip that month. It didn't work out so well with choosing another weekend the last time.
-
Ya'll could come to Lincoln......

It don't matter to me. Open to anything.
-
Oct 4 is a away night game. perfect timing for a Lincoln meetup.
-
I would be willing to travel to Lincoln, anything good on the north side of town??
Greg58
-
Lincoln would be ok, as long as someone gives good directions, or a 8 didgit grid.
-
If you're wanting to stay in the Gretna area try Flying J/Denny's just South of Nebraska Crossing on Highway 31. That's South of I-80 a few feet.
Fairly large dining area with a full Denny's menu. If you give them some advance notice they'll probably arrange a few tables for ya.
We go there a few times a year with some old high school buddies from Lincoln. (Class of '61)
-
Has there been any decision on this topic? I am open to Lincoln as well if that is the decision.
-
We have several people that would love to visit with everyone if we had one of these, I need to know the info to pass on if anyone would like to have a couple political people stop by and visit. Candidates are out knocking on doors and trying to get votes so their having an interest in coming and visiting with us at the time it is in campaign season is a big thing.
-
No there has not been any decision about this. My inclination is to stay in the same area since most of the people who come are not from Lincoln.
I may call the Flying J and inquire about accommodations. If there was more interest from Lincoln members then I would consider going there.
Greg58
-
I won't spend my money at Denny's
-
Hometown? cafe on 48th, just down the street from thunder alley has some good breakfast if y'all wanna entertain Lincoln. I might even be able to make it.
-
I was thinking the little cafe in Waverly. But haven't had time to call and see about accommodations.
FarmerRick and I met there for breakfast once. Nice joint, good food. Not deep into Lincoln and not posted!
(I was thinking if we ever wanted to do lunch, Parker's Roadhouse in Ashland would be sweet. )
-
I was reminded that Dave1215 had recommended The Egg and I in Papillion, so I am going to call them in the morning and see if their party room would be available.
That might allow some politicians to speak more easily to the group.
Bull. I do love Parker's!!
Greg58
-
the road house outside of Ashland sounds great,
-
I don't care where.
-
Ok, I called The Egg and I in Papillion and they will accomodate us in their party room.
10/04/2014 09:00 the address is 304 Olson Drive, Papillion Ne.
The resturant is located at Hwy 370 & 84th St. on the south side of 370 and a little east, it is on a frontage road and faces 370.
I told them to plan for 12-15 people and that maybe a political candidate or 2 may show up to speak to us.
I plan to be there.
Greg58
-
Thanx for the leg work, Greg58. I'll plan on being there (maybe +2)
-
I'll be there.
-
I will also attempt to attend, just got off the phone with Brent Lindstrom's campaign manager (lots of people were hitting Brent up to do our survey) and he is going to at least stop by and say hello and personally let you know where he stands. Reaching out to a couple more candidates that also can use your help and vote if you are in their district.

I owe GSD a couple AR mags, so I guess I'd better try to make it. 8)
-
Great response so far, I think we are up to 14!!
Please post your intentions here so I can call and give the resturant a heads up, I told them to plan for 12-15 but that could change.
They seem happy to accomodate us.

Ill be there, they better have Dr Pepper on tap! and taters, don't forget the taters.
-
I'm planning on it.
-
Linda and I plan to attend. (second post)
-
Well, let's try to fill the place, I'll try and make this one.
Look forward to meeting you all.
Lee
-
See if you can get that SFG guy to show. ;D

And bacon.............. Lots of bacon
-
I have invites out to the area PAF endorsed Legislature candidates, at least I think I got them all. Also dropped a note to the Mayor of Papillon, who is an NFOA member and supporter.
-
I plan to make it.
-
If anyone needs to grab a Cup O' Joe to drink on the way to the Egg and I, I heard that there would coffee available at Brueggers Bagels at 114th and Davenport starting at 8:30. This is an event for Lee Terry sponsored by the Republican Congressional Campaign Committee. Depending on when his event is over he may try to make it to our breakfast as well.
-
0900 would fit into sfg's schedule, don't try to get him anywhere sooner than that though, but as of this morning, he is headed to Okie City, visiting the family.
Lee
-
i will not be making this one.
-
I haven't been to one of these yet, but I might try to get up there from Lincoln. It would be nice to actually put some faces with the names I see on the forum.
-
A couple of responses from FaceBook to get into the head count, Senator Kintner plans to be there as well as Senator Tommy Garrett and Mayor David Black of Papillion. If I see or hear any more I will post them here so we can have a running head count.
-
Sounds like we may take over the whole place!
-
I should note that I will have someone with me as well so that the headcount is more accurate.
-
I called back today and advised The Egg and I that we may have 20+ in attendance.
Of course I talked with a different person this time, and he said they do not reserve the party room, but use it for overflow. He asked if I could arrive early, so I will try to be there around 08:30 to get things rolling.
Greg
-
I wonder if my favorite Mayor has any connections to the staff at Egg and I. ? ;D
-
I will be there. Since politicians will be there will this be considered a political rally? Is so that means I can not conceal and carry. Always obey the law, even if its stupid as hell :)
-
I don't view it as a political rally. It's breakfast and that a few politicians decided to come join us.
-
I agree with Rod, it's just breakfast.
-
Even if a Mayor (who also happens to be running for said office - in Papillion) happens to be there it still isn't a political rally as he is also an NFOA member and is just having breakfast with fellow members.
-
I'm planning to come. What time?
Edit: Nevermind. I see 8:30-ish

I think the 8:30 time is the start of the Lee Terry event at Brueggers Bagels

-
I think Greg was going to be there at 8:30 to insure we had a space for 9:00.
-
For count I may gave a friend with me who would probably become an NFOA member.
-
This got brought up over in the Nebraska Firearms group, a couple of them will be joining us as well. We may be taking over this entire restaurant this month.

What is the Nebraska Firearms group?
-
yes??
-
Sorry a little tired, Nebraska Carry
-
It was nice meeting some folks this morning. Glad I made it to my first breakfast. Three friends I had all were impressed with the group - hopefully might pick up a few new members. Thanks for what you do for firearm owners and ccw in the State.
-
Having just made it back to the house my wife asked how it was and I can honestly say that it was a great get together. I hope we have more of these going forward, here and in Lincoln.
It was wonderful being able to finally put some faces with names.
-
was so bummed i wasnt able to make it due to a mistake in scheduling with my daughter.
-
Thought it was an awesome event. Just over 30 folks all together. Got to meet some folks that I've haven'st seen for awhile. Also got to visit with AA and meet our (Papillion) mayor.
And thanks for the Lincolonites that ventured up. Didn't see Miss M though.
-
Folks Great turn out, you really impressed the politicians that were there. For them to see this many engaged members showing up for coffee and no other purpose kind of shocked the new kid in the political pack. If we consistently had crowds like this you would have everyone considering a run for anything wanting to drop in and meet the group. We could even become a Presidential litmus test, OK that getting too big but you get the idea.
-
I had a great time...I posted a few pics to both the NFOA & 'the friends of the NFOA' Facebook pages....
I may try to post some on here later....they are all too large to post but I will attempt to resize them after work...
Let's keep the momentum going & make next months breakfast just as sucuessful
-

Shooter, I knew they didn't sell Dr Pepper going in, but didn't have the heart to tell you!!
Glad you scored some brass.
Thanks to all who came today, the more we get to know each other the stronger our organization will become.
Grass roots is the name of the game, we are almost like "community organizers".
