Title: Omaha Mayor Suttles response regarding MAIG
Post by: huskergun on October 17, 2009, 09:16:19 PM
This is Mayor Suttles response to a 5 page letter I wrote him about MAIG. The letter included testimonials of mayors who had quit the group and other research regarding MAIG's anti Second Amendment agenda.
We ALL really need to get on Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle and explain to him how he is wrong about Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
He just doesn't have a clue.
I did inform him that by staying in this organization that I along with (most) likely the NFOA membership would have no choice but to treat him as hostile to the Second Amendment.
Let's go after him on this.

Isn't there a reason why the "trace data" issue is harmful to gun owners and law enforcement?  I remember reading that's why the ATF and the NRA oppose releasing that info.

The reason is to prevent people like Suttle and MAIG from getting it. It's none of their damn business.

That's right. None of their damn business. The more they know the more power it gives them to infringe on our rights and it makes confiscation all the easier.

It stops the cities that were using that data to sue firearm manufacturer and dealers from getting the data.  The information police need for an investigation they can still get.  According to the ATF the trace data does not necessarily reflect illegal firearms, traces can be done and are done for reasons other than a firearm being a crime gun.

The Fraternal Order of Police and New York's own police comissioner also opposed releasing trace data.

Obama, however, has listed release of the data as a campaign goal.

We all need to be explaining this to Suttle. He is not feeling the pressure yet.

Suttle is a lost cause.  He'll be recalled shortly anyway.

What does he mean by "your" Second Amendment rights? Has he repudiated his?

OK, call me thick, but I seem to be missing something.  What is the big uproar about this MAIG thing anyway.

So what did I do?  Internet research, yeah that?s right, I?m a techno-geek.  In the whole 1/240th of a second that it took to run the query through Google I found that what I didn?t know about these whack-jobs is that they are a pretty scary group.

Most of their belief?s tend to infringe on my ownership rights.  I don?t sell guns to criminals, in fact I don?t sell guns at all.  So why are they wanting to cause me heartburn?  Go get the illegal guns I say, but leave us law-abiding gun owners to our business.  If we break a law then we are no longer law-abiding and deserve what we get.  Easy, right?  How many laws are there on the books concerning guns?  Tens of thousands?  Try enforcing those before you make any more that only serve to restrict the activities of non-criminals.

What a bunch of rubes.   ::)
