Hey Lincolnites,
It's been a while since we've gotten together. Lets set a date for Feb 7 at Hiway diner.
I will be inviting mayoral candidate Andy Stebbing and city council candidate Mairead Safranek along for ya to voice our concerns with Lincoln's anti gun laws.
Come one, come all. Lets show them we are United, concerned and informed voters.

Time of event might be helpful as Ike's BR match is that day.
-
That was TBD, but if we need a time, let's go with 8/9- ?? We usually meet up by 9 with some folks coming in earlier, some straggling in a bit late.
To be frank, if you care about the leadership of this city, and helping to put in place folks that are sympathetic to our cause, it might be worth missing a couple hours at the range.
-
I can do that. Should be there barring any emergencies.
-
GSD, what was that ladies name who stopped by the NFOA booth on Sunday? She said she was running for city council in Northeast Lincoln and claimed that both of her opponents were 20-something year old liberals... if she was walking a gun show, I'm sure she would make time to stop in. She was also collecting signatures to get on the ballot.
-
Was it Mairead Safranek? she's running for NW district, though. If there is more conservative/ 2A friendly folks running, I think we will need to put together a PAF Meet and Greet.
-
Cyndi Lamm was her name. I probably misspelled it though lol.
-
Ah, thanx. I will reach out to her.
-
Is there a list of candidates yet?

I just heard her tonight on the KLIN "drive time Lincoln" radio show. Very impressive!!! She was very open about a rough upbringing she had, being homeless, and living in dire poverty for many years. Pulled herself up by her bootstraps and worked her way up through a university degree and UNL law degree. She described herself as a 'conservative Republican candidate'.
My first impression was that she is someone I would LOVE to see on the city council, paired with Stebbing as mayor.

This just might be the year folks! We've got a friend in Omaha Mayor Stothert, We've turned around the Unicameral, and it's looking like we have a chance to build a better Lincoln City Council.
As Rod brought up during the last election, these local elections are as or even more, important than the national ones. These are the people we bring up thru the ranks.
-
I can make this one about 8:30 on the 7th
-
i hope to make it, but its doubtful for me. we are celebrating our daughter's 2 year birthday with lots of family. if i can go, i'll have to leave a little early.
-
Here is a link to Cyndi Lamm's law office web page: http://www.clammlaw.com/?page_id=2. (http://www.clammlaw.com/?page_id=2.)
When I was in law school, I remember her being a part-time instructor for legal research and writing. At that time she worked for Baylor, Evnen. I remember seeing her at many Republican party events that I attended. From what I know of her, she would be a big improvement to the city council.
-
I am not working that morning so I will attempt to make the trip from Omaha to meet these candidates.
-
I have reached out to her. I will let you all know.

Dan ,
May be a stupid question but, I know you said breakfast, but since we have special guests could this even remotely be considered a political rally or fundraiser?
-
We have always ruled that as a NO at any of our other coffees.

I am gonna be real disappointed if any NFOA member shows up unarmed
-
Since this is an informal gathering, with no political fundraising or specific political agenda it is not a violation to carry concealed.

I'll do my best to not disappoint you. I can even bring extras to share.

Stebbing was also on KLIN 1400 "drive time Lincoln" tonight. Sounded great. He slammed the Mayor's support for raising Lincoln sales tax a quarter of a percent in order to pay for new emergency services telephony systems. Stebbing said they knew these systems had a ~20 year shelf life when they bought them, and now it's really slimy to basically tell the public that "we can't keep you safe unless you let us raise taxes." ::) He also lamented the low level of police staffing in Lincoln.

As someone who has applied a couple times, I can honestly say it is their own fault. They basically only accept the top 5%.
-
I liked what Mr. Stebbing had to say. Think he would be a helpful mayor. Enjoyed the get together but arrived a little late to meet many of the other members. Did meet another Ikes member that might turn out to be a new shooting bud.
Thanks.

I want to think everyone that came out today. I think it was a good (albeit quick) discussion. I, too, feel Andy has a good grasp on the troubles at City Hall and just might be the man to fix it.
Stay tuned to the NFOA PAF. We will be trying to get Lincoln area Gun Owners in contact with the candidates. I have a good feeling we have a real chance at shaking things up down at city hall.
