Title: List of state representative candidates?
Post by: ILoveCats on March 11, 2016, 08:21:48 AM
Anyone know of a list to see who has filed for and is running for the legislature?  I know Bolz is putting out yard signs already in District 29 so just wondering if she has any competition.

She voted the right way in favor of the preemption bill, but I lobbied her office pretty constantly. On one hand nobody should need any lobbying on RKBA issues so I'd like to know if a good Republican is competing with her for the District. On the other hand I don't want to see her replaced by someone who is vehemently anti-RKBA, so will continue to support her if she's better than the competition.

Bolz is being challenged by a true gun hater.

Then I'm backing Bolz. Thanks for the info.

The Secretary of State's website has a listing of all candidates who have filed for the primary election.  You can access that list here: http://www.sos.ne.gov/elec/2016/pdf/Candidate-List.pdf. (http://www.sos.ne.gov/elec/2016/pdf/Candidate-List.pdf.)

And, bennysdad, maybe you can help me out.  I have an editorial comment regarding the page you link to above.  On that page, Nebraska's senate is referenced a few times, but  Nebraska does not have a senate.  Rather, our state's legislative body is simply "the Legislature".  Other states' legislatures have two houses (a senate and a house or an assembly), but ours does not.  Members of the Legislature are called senators for some reason, but not because they are members of the senate.  I think we ought to be as accurate as we can be in our publications.

I think the people in Nebraska know what you have stated above. All of the information I have seen relate to "Nebraska State Senators" naming.
