I received an email from a friend stating that this was an negligent discharge of a 45.

Just a minor flesh wound, no need to see a doctor.

I saw that a few years back,and it was described as a 12 gauge fired while resting on his toe

Considering how stories get morphed and recirculated on the internet, you never know what the truth is.  It LOOKS like a gunshot wound, but then maybe it was some crazy farming accident.
