Title: Friday Fun Thread
Post by: Bill on December 16, 2010, 08:34:36 AM
Yes I realize it's not technically Friday, but it's my Friday so I'm keeping the catchy name.

Utah just made the 1911 their official state firearm.  This brought my mind to the question of:

"What would Nebraska's official state firearm be, and why?"

It's a toss up between the Winchester model 94 and the Remmington 870.

Did John Deere ever make a firearm of any kind?

It would certainly have to be some shotgun of sorts.  Remember everyone has a shotgun....but "no one needs one of them assault guns".

It's entirely possible. I know Smith Corona, Husqvarna, General Motors, IBM, the Underwood Typewriter Company, Rock-Ola jukebox and International Harvester all made rifles at some point.

I think it would need to be one of the guns sold by either Sears or Mongomery Ward through their catalogs back when peoples rights were still recognized.  Thats were alot of Nebraskan's got the firearms in those days (still have a couple of family hand me downs as well).

Maybe a 1873 Trapdoor Springfield?
Those took out quite a few Buffalo in the early days of Nebraska's statehood.

My dad has my Grandpa's old Monkey Ward single shot 12 gauge.  I hauled that thing around a lot of fence lines looking for roosters when I was a kid, until I scratched up the money to buy my own shotgun.
