I know we have several Glock armorers on the forum. I've been toying with the idea of "building" a Glock. What's a good source, other than Glock themselves, for Glock slides, barrels, etc? I came across a Gen 2 G17 frame (I really prefer the Gen 2 grips) and thought it would be interesting to "build" a Glock. Used Gen 2 G17's seem to be fairly plentiful for under $400 so I don't want to spend more than that.
TIA

And you really shouldn't pay more that $300, and certainly no more than $350 for G2 or older. At least I would not.

Are you talking about the frame or the whole gun?

The whole gun.

The whole gun.
Most places I've seen the police trade-ins have been at $349-389. Any suggestions on where to find them for $300-350?

pawn shops

As Dan stated, Pawn Shops, CDNN, occasionally will see one on Gunbroker, as well as Cabelas. I say Cabelas as they had police buy back G22s recently for about $389. $389 not too bad IF and I mean IF very good condition WITH good night sights.

Last 3 Glocks my family bought used from a a local pawn shop, the highest priced was around $350 for a G17 with 2 mags One G19 has a lasermax unit installed and was only $325. Plus I recently ought a G26 from a board member for $400 with 3 mags and it was as new in box with a small number of rounds fired.
All gen 3 BTW

Interesting. I stopped by a local pawn shop last week. There was a Gen 2 G17 with a single mag in the case. The guy behind the counter was "tired of looking at it" and offered it to me at $400. I didn't even bother making a counter-offer since I was relatively confident I could get one through one of our NFOA member dealers for less.
They had another G17 in the case that looked pretty worn. Maybe I should've made them a two for one offer.

Most of the pawn shops in Omaha want $475 and up for a used up Glock of any sort.

If you have the frame already, watch Gunbroker.com for complete uppers being sold.

I ended up not buying the frame since I didn't feel like I had a firm handle on a good, inexpensive supplier of complete slides. The Gunbroker watch is a good idea though.
I may just go back to the pawn shop in a few days and see if those same two Gen 2's are in the case ....

Wow, you guys must frequent better pawn shops than I do. Every one I go to wants new prices for used guns.

Express Police Supply AKA OMBEXPRESS.com has Gen 2 police G22 trade-ins for 299.99 right now. They are out of Kansas. Also if you want to build a Glock Lone Wolf Distributors has some sick slides and frames they make @ lonewolfdist.com ;D

Thanks. I'm specifically looking for Gen 2 G17's.

I don't think you will find a decent Gen 2 Glock 17 for less than $400. As for the G22's the market is over-flooded with LE trades and you can't give those away. Express PS has been trying to give them away for $300 since they quit selling Glocks 2 years ago........ I just got in a Gen 2 Glock 17 today that will go on Gunbroker to start at $400....... If I sell it locally, I have to add sales tax.
