Just curious how many NFOA members are out here in the Central Nebraska area?

What do you consider "central Nebraska?"
-
Well, that would be the middle of Nebraska, ie. Kearney, Grand Island, Lexington, Broken Bow, North Platte, etc.
I always joke with my wife about us being Far Eastern Wyoming and not Nebraska. It seems that back East, Nebraska ends at about York....

Does south central count? :)
-
You bet it does. Especially seeing as I still do my deer hunting down between Alma and Phillipburg, KS.

I met a guy in the service from Omaha. When I told him I lived by York, and that it was in Nebraska he was perplexed. He thought if you went west past Lincoln you fell off the edge of the earth.

Well, PlatteCo is east-central.
I lived out in 21 county waaaayyy back when just after I got out of the USN. Got laid off and had to move "back east."
I'd still live out in the shadow of Scottsbluff if I had a way to make a living out there.

This would be the first time I have heard of North platte referred to as "central Nebraska" ..... I always thought of it as the eastern edge of western Nebraska.....
I hunt South central NE ........ SW Furnas and SE Red Willow counties ...... I would live there if I could, and probably will, someday.
-
Well see, Western Nebraska is a whole 'nuther state when compared to Central Nebraska, and Nebraska. N. Platte is just a border town like El Paso or York....... ;) ;) ;D
Heck, N. Platte might just lie in both states..

I believe he is referring to Platte County. which is still a stretch for Central Nebraska...

If you can define the towns you want included in this number, I can search the database for the number of NFOA members in those towns

Dan, I was thinking it would be cool to have a map of sorts with dots/ pins for members to mark were they are from. I have seen an interactive map like that somewhere out there in the big WWW.
Like I said, I was just thinkin'
-
I think CasCity.com used to have one like that....
Here's a link. http://www.cascity.com/kansas/index.shtml (http://www.cascity.com/kansas/index.shtml)
That would be a cool addition, and would show where we are lacking in members.

Would a Google map work? I believe that could be set up so that a select few (members only) could add their location to it.

A google map would work, and it has allowances for several users to edit the map. The problem could be that a yahoo could edit everyone else's info. It would be better left to a select few rather than the general membership.
I have a few maps made up of our Cowboy Action ranges in Nebraska, and I only have a few of the RangeMasters allowed on it to edit their info if needed.
Here's a link to my map. You will probably have to zoom in, but you can click on the pins for range info.
