I cant believe that little bitty nick is what dropped the price to what i stole it for:)
Already have a list of exactly what is going on it, total build cost to firing status should be around $605.
(You cant see it but i have this HUGE childish grin on my face)
-
future SBR?
-
OH NO! YOU'VE CAUGHT BLACK RIFLE DISEASE!
There's no going back.
By the way, if you want to cover up that blem I have some Alumablack that will hide it. A light shot of semi-gloss black spray paint will do it too.
-
Rob, no SBR in the immediate future, gotta get this built first (but if PSA does another $50 deal i may be tempted)
BK, It just adds to the character lol
-
Nice! I was looking at AR lowers in some Omaha shops. The cheapest was $199. I need to pick up an inexpensive lower so I can build a new rifle and spread out the cost.

I hear ya. I am going to jump on one of these deals here sometime. It will still turn into a very long build on my budget these days..
-
ordered mine just a week ago so i will be working on mine soon. I to will be on low budget to so might be slow process
-
Ha ha welcome to Black Rifle disease anonymous! I wonder how it transmits... :o
I will be working on a few projects this winter. Got a couple lowers on the way (223 and 308) I am in no hurry to get them done. There is enough that i can use to put lead down range. I just want to do it right.

Denial ain't just a river in Eygpt ;D

BRD is highly contagious and is usually picked up at gun ranges or through the interwebs.

You can also get it through ASSMOSIS just sitting on the internet

I am temporarily immune: my wallet recently suffered an acute attack of the Milsurp Virus..... Commiegun strain...... it is not terribly serious, as brass, bullets, some loaded ammo, and dies did more damage to the wallet than the guns did......
-
Fired a Daniel Defense today, After feeling that smooth as a babys botttom trigger break, i'm splurging on one of thier LPK's in the future.
Like glass...

Don't do that. Grabbed 2 Palmetto State Armory lowers for $160 total, including shipping about 8 months ago.
-
no kidding! good thing the internet was invented, so i can buy gun stuff cheaper!
-
Just ordered my LPK and stock tonight. Bout a week till all that is left is hanging an upper.
course, that wont happen for a while, that uppers is the most expensive part lol.
-
You can always buy the upper a piece at a time and spread the cost out. I have all the tools to build it if you want to use them.
-
i'm not that good lol...this one will proabably be just a complete build, next one however...*rubs hands together evilly*
-
Seriously, if you're capable of changing your oil you can build an upper. It's that easy.
-
Can one be build for $440? Thats the price of the upper i am looking at.
-
Probably not. You don't really save any money by building your own, it just allows you to spread to cost out.
-
ahh, the upper i am looking is a core15,
16" M4 Upper receiver with a 416R Stainless Steel 3 groove Polygonal Rifling 1:8 twist M4 Barrel, M4A3 upper receiver, Midwest Industries Gen 2 Midlength (9") 2-piece Quad Rail System, Core 15 Hardcore Billet Charging Handle V.2, M16 BCG (MPI & HP Tested), and low profile gas block.
Damned near exactly what i was looking for.
-
So, built the lower tonight. what i could anyway. CMMG skimped on a takedown detent spring so i can't put the rear detent pin in until i find a replacement. a couple questions come to mind...
I noticed the sere was a touch off, i had to file it down a touch to fit. Problem?
Also, the select fire pin, after detent pinning, will not move from fire unless the hammer is back. Common?
Sorry, it has been over ten years since i had any solid sort of contact with AR's. Fired em since then yes, but ground up builds no way Nancy.
BTW, not counting the apparently continuous interruptions tonight, took me a little over an hour to build it to where it is now.

NORMAL on all AR15's for the safety to only operate when the hammer is back
-
Where did you have to file? It should just drop in.
-
Dan, thanks. i thought so, but would rather be certain.
Brian, It was only about 1/32 out of compliance, most likely paint/minor machining issues. Couple strokes with a rat tail file and it pinned together without trouble.
BTW guys, little tidbit from an armorer buddy...the Spikes recievers are a Class 3 permit holders friend, if you get my drift.
