Title: single shot rifles?
Post by: hc18flyer on February 01, 2012, 06:46:12 PM
I am looking for an entry level 223 or 22-250 rifle. I thought about the H & R Varmint, the Rossi, and the NEF. Is one better than the others? What about the triggers? I do have access to reloading equipment.
Thanks in advance for your replies! New member.
Thanks, Tom

I favor the Handi-Rifles over Rossi but some will disagree.  Rossi's will let you add barrels without fitting... H & R might interchange, might not.

Check this place out for the most info on the net regarding H&R handi-rifles...   http://www.go2gbo.com/forums/index.php (http://www.go2gbo.com/forums/index.php)

Scroll down to H & R Talk and start reading.   :D

There is also a pretty good NEF/ H&R section over at the Marlin Owners Forums (marlinowners.com)

I had a .223 Handi Rifle but never got real great accuracy out of it.  It was about a 2 MOA gun.  Some guys have really good luck with them though.

I bought a new Handi rifle in .243 for my grand duaghter to start deer hunting with several years ago. Same as bkoenig, average hunting accuracy but not great. It didn't really like 100 grain bullets much and did better with 85 grain slugs. I sold it off when she got a bit older and switched to a bolt gun.
